Remembering Cherepanov

Laurie Carr at Beyond the Blueshirts remembers Alexei Cherepanov on the second anniversary of his death.

...wow, can't believe that was two years ago.

...the Rangers youth movement has been a real exciting development this offseason, could you imagine if this kid was added to to mix?

...RIP Alexei.

Mattias, if you search Cherepanov in the search box at the top of the blog you will see every post I have on the tragedy.

Cherepanov died from a genetic heart condition called hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). Scared the hell out of me because I was diagnosed with HCM about 7 years ago and it ended my hockey playing days. Any time an athlete drops dead out of nowhere, it's usually HCM. Did they ever disclose whatever caused Thrashers goalie Ondrej Pavelec to pass out?

I actually cried a little that day when I found out. Absolutely tragic. This kid had amazing potential and was loved by all of his teammates. Alexei, you are forever a Ranger.
