What I Missed While Stealing My Kids' Candy

Jesse Spector at the Blueshirt Blog reports that contrary to a Swedish newspaper report, MZA is not on his way back to his former Swedish Elite League team Modo and is still with the Hartford Wolfpack.

Spector also reports that Evgeni Grachev is staying with the team and has this quote from Torts...

“He’s gonna play,” Tortorella said. “We’re gonna keep him here right now, and I want to see more of him, and hopefully he can keep on growing, and as long as he protects the puck, I think the other parts of his game will come into play because I think he’ll get more minutes.”

...too much of a stomach ache from candy to write any thoughts. So let's hear yours in the comments section.

Rangers Talk Win against Maple Leafs

Steve Zipay at Blue Notes has numerous quotes including these...

Ryan Callahan, who missed a penalty shot last year, on tonight's penalty shot move...

"had an idea of what I wanted to do...same move as last year. Don't tell anybody."

Henrik Lundqvist on passing Mike Richter on the Rangers all-time shutout list...

"It's special,” said Lundqvist, in his fifth season. “He's (Richter) been around for a long time, such a big part of this organization. Now I've got to keep going with a couple more."

While Jesse Spector at the Blueshirts Blog also has some quotes.

Brian Boyle on his goal...

“I kind of blindly threw it up there. I heard Hankie bangin’ (his stick on the ice), saying the PK was over. I figured (Prust would) be coming out. I also figured if he wasn’t, I could put it in a place where it would still get down. That was a lucky bounce. He came out at the right time, and he made a great play on it to handle it. And it was a good pass. I went from there.”

Torts post game video here.

Rangers 2, Maple Leafs 0

The New York Rangers (5-4-1) defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs (5-4-1) by the score of 2-0, tonight. For a recap and box score go to Yahoo! Sports and newyorkrangers.com.

...this team is awesome, this team stinks, this team is awesome, this team stinks. Get ready for a roller coaster ride this season folks. Do yourself a favor and try to stay as even keeled as possible, because no matter how good or bad they play at certain points this season the Rangers are going to be fighting for one of the final two or three spots nothing more and nothing less.

...after his teammates left him out to dry last night it was so great to see the team help Hank out with 35 blocked shots and let him take care of the rest.

...has Boyle turned himself into the scoring, power forward the Rangers have always coveted? BTW Rangers management needs to make it mandatory that every player workout with Boyle's power skating coach next offseason. The results are dramatic.

...i'm running out of adjectives to describe Callahan.

...if there's one thing Torts can do is call a timeout. It seems like the team responds every time.

...another great defensive game from Girardi who may be overtaking Staal as the Rangers best defenseman.

...speaking of Staal do you think Micheletti was impressed with his stickwork tonight? If you took a drink every time he commented on it you'd be bombed right now.

...thought Christensen played well with Frolov tonight as the Russian wasn't completely invisible.

...nice too see the Rangers real tough guy set the tone early with a fight. And what's up with another Maple Leafs player going for the take down when they're losing a fight? (See Orr vs. Boogaard last week.)

...wonder if Stepan and Grachev were taking about how great the Traverse Tourney was during the 52 minutes they were stuck to the bench tonight.

Video: Torts Post Game Thoughts on Canes Loss

Sorry video was disabled.

Remember to follow me on Twitter & Facebook or e-mail me at nyrfan94@yahoo.com.

Rangers Talk Loss to Canes

Rick Carpiniello at the Rangers Report had numerous post game quotes including these...

Ryan Callahan:

“We’ve got to tighten up defensively still. We know we’re still running around a little bit in our defensive zone. I think that will come with time. I think we’ve gotten better through the first part of the season here, and everybody’s starting to get better at it and starting to get used to it, but we still have to tighten up some and limit their chances.”

Marc Staal...

“I thought in the second we were having problems getting it out of our zone cleanly. We had a lot of turnovers before our blue line and in the neutral zone, and I thought that caused them to have a little momentum. Obviously there’s things we can tighten up.”

Henrik Lundqvist...

“I felt good. I had a good feeling that we could do this, we’d get a good win at home. But again we lose a game short-handed late in the game. It’s always tough to lose that way. But we definitely created enough chances to win the game. But, you know, we came up short and, oh, very disappointing.”

Andrew Gross at Ranger Rants has more including this quote from John Tortorella on the refs...

“I’m not going to whine. I don’t want to whine about it,” Tortorella added. “But it just frustrates the hell out of me when two teams fight so hard and it’s really a non-call there and that’s frustrating. I guess I am whining a little bit. It just ticks me off. It does because I think the teams need to decide it. And then after that, Dubi is a blatant interference off the faceoff, the one he losses before the power play goal is scored. It’s blatant interference.”

Hurricanes 4, Rangers 3

The New York Rangers (4-4-1) lost to the Carolina Hurricanes (5-4-1) by the score of 4-3, tonight. For a recap and box score go to Yahoo! Sports and newyorkrangers.com.

...that's one of those loses I can't find too much wrong with what the team did. Lots of offense, good forecheck, plenty of energy, but they just couldn't get it done. A hot Cam Ward didn't help.

...pk has been covering up for a lot of penalties and tonight it caught up with them.

...Callahan's goal scoring (three straight games with a goal) is finally catching up with his hard work.

...got to feel for Hank tonight. Guy was standing on his head and has nothing to show for it.

...nice to see Staal adding a little scoring to his game lately, but it seems that it's coming at the expense of his defense.

...Dubinsky continues his hot start with a sweet goal giving him nine points in nine games (5g, 4a).

...too bad that kid Skinner didn't drop to the Rangers in this year's draft, huh.

...man don't know why I didn't notice how big Grachev was during the preseason, but he's huge. One nice shift when he had a nice hit, went to the net and deflected the puck. Other than that pretty invisible.

...glad Torts wanted to get White more involved. Too bad he only gave him seven minutes.

...only one point for Christensen, four less than he expected when the game started.

...right back at it again in Toronto tomorrow night. Biron?

Christensen Puts Too Much Pressure on Himself

Larry Brooks at the New York Post has some in-depth quotes from Erik Christensen on why he is so inconsistent...

"My whole life I've heard about how much talent I have, and so I've always tried to live up to that, and if I can't, then I get frustrated," Christensen, who once had a 108-point season in the WHL, told The Post following Friday morning's optional skate in preparation for a match at the Garden against Carolina.

"I go into every game wanting to score five points and if things don't go my way, I get ticked off and almost start working against myself. I have such high expectations of myself, that I make the mistake of not staying positive.

"I put added pressure on myself and my play drops."

...wow, those are some pretty honest quotes by Christensen. Don't see that too often from athletes. Also, don't like hearing one of our players can't take the heat.

Brooks also reports that Grachev will replace Derek Boogaard in the lineup tonight.

Lundqvist the Antithesis of Over-hyped

Chris Botta at Fanhouse ranks his top seven goaltenders in the NHL and puts Henirk Lundqvist at #4...

4. Henrik Lundqvist, New York Rangers: Five seasons completed in the NHL, a three-time Vezina finalist. Lundqvist is the rare New York athlete who is the antithesis of over-hyped.

...can't say I disagree with the ranking of Hank. My only criticism of the King is that I'd like to see a little more playoff success. In all four playoff appearances, he's yet to put the team on his back and win a series. If he can do that, he'll be in the top two easily.

With Injuries, New Lines at Practice (Updated - Grachev on the Way)

Update, 3:17 p.m.:
Jesse Spector at the Blueshirts Blog has Tortorella's thoughts on tomorrow's lineup...

“I tried Erik (on the top line), nothing happened,” Tortorella said. “I put Whitey there, and it’s not just because he scored a goal - I thought for three or four shifts, he was pretty good, and it was really the first time that he’s been put in a little bit of an offensive role. So we’ll see how the game goes on. If Anisimov can play, I want to put him right back in there with Cally and Dubi. … Step, it’s a little bit of a struggle for him right now. We want to work with him, we want to show him the tape and some of the things we need to bring to his attention, and we’ll see how it goes. I’d like to find out if Whitey can work in some offensive roles, and when he got an opportunity last night, he certainly didn’t do a poor job - ends up scoring a goal around the net, and I thought made some good plays.”

...could be some interesting combinations tomorrow. Also looks like Christensen might be the odd man out when Gabby comes back.

...btw, how much do the Rangers regret sending Kennedy down to Hartford now.

Update, 2:16 p.m.:
Larry Brooks at the New York Post says the Rangers fourth line tomorrow night could be Stepan, Grachev and Christensen.

Update, 1:13 p.m.:

Steve Zipay tweets that Anisimov's MRI (right ankle) was fine. Both he and Rozsival (knee) will play tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Andrew Gross tweets that the Rangers
will recall Evgeny Grachev from Hartford as Derek Boogaard will be a game-time decision due to a hand infection that was caused by a cut he received during his fight against the Bruins Shawn Thornton on Saturday.

Original Post:

No Anisimov or Rozsival on ice at #NYR practice. Lines: Dubi-White-Cally, Avery-Boyle-Fed, Frolov-Stepan-Prust, Boogaard-Christensen-Vacantless than a minute ago via HootSuite

...no word on a possible call-up if Anisimov can't go. But if he can, maybe White goes between Frolov and Prust and Stepan to the fourth line.

Boogaard A Tough Guy

In Fox News' latest "Tough Guy Tracker" Derek Boogaard's bout with Colton Orr lands at #8...

8. Derek Boogaard, New York Rangers
On Oct. 21 in Toronto, Colton Orr asked the Rangers' Derek Boogaard for a fight, and in turn got an ass-whooping. It took "The Boogie Man" a while to get going, but once he did it was all over for the Maple Leafs' heavyweight, as the Broadway Bully landed several power punches that shook Orr to the core.

...not sure I agree with the assessment of the fight, while Boogaard might have eked out a win there is no way that was an ass-whooping.

...forgot to mention this in my game thoughts last night. Why is Boogaard even on this team if Biron is going to get run with the so-called enforcer on the ice and nothing is done? I thought that stuff was supposed to stop.

The Rangers vs. Bruins game was ranked #3 because of the three fights between the two teams.

Anisimov, Rozsival Injury Updates

Andrew Gross at Ranger Rants has this quote from Artem Anisimov on that status of his ankle after blocking a shot with it in second period...

“I feel all right,” Anisimov said after the game. “It was a shot blocked off my ankle. Tomorrow I’ll come to the [practice] rink and we’ll see what happens. Sometimes when you block a shot, there’s pain, then it releases. This one did not release. This one got worse and worse.”

Gross adds that Rozsival left the bench with about five minutes to play and Tortorella reported he suffered a hyper-extended knee.

“He should be OK,” Tortorella said.

...great to hear Anisimov is saying he feels alright, Torts said in his presser that we'll find out more after he has an MRI tomorrow.

Video: Torts Talks Loss vs. Thrashers

Rangers head coach John Tortorella speaks with reporters after the Blueshirts fell to the Atlanta Thrashers 6-4 here.

Rick Carpiniello at the Rangers Report has player reaction...

Marc Staal on the lost puck on the 3-2 goal...

“It was along the when it came around. All of a sudden it started bouncing. Obviously, looking back, I would have stopped it with my skate against the boards and made sure I had it, but it just bounced over (my stick).”

Ryan Callahan on the message during the timeout...

“He just said, ‘We’ve got to pick up our game.’ He wasn’t telling us anything we didn’t know. We weren’t winning battles, we weren’t getting pucks in like we wanted to and he explained that to us. We have to realize that ourselves, too, that we can’t take shifts off or take long stretches off and expect to win.

“I don’t know (why). I wish I knew. The big shifts are after goals and things like that, and I thought after we scored our first goal, and even after Aves ties it, we didn’t come back at them and continue to pressure. Early in the season we’ve got to learn that, that after a goal, those are pretty big shifts. And we’ve got to keep going with the momentum. Unfortunately we didn’t do that, and we sat back on our heels after goals.”

Martin Biron on his performance...

“It might have been a situation where earlier in the game, one save makes the difference, so everybody can accept their own game. I’ll look at my own game and I want to see what I can do to help this team win games. That’s what I’m doing.”

Thrashers 6, Rangers 4

The New York Rangers (4-3-1) lost to the Atlanta Thrashers (4-4-1) by the score of 6-4, tonight. For a recap and box score go to Yahoo! Sports and newyorkrangers.com.

...tale of two teams tonight. The one that played the first half of the first period and last half of the third and the other that looked lost in between.

...i was impressed with the Rangers ability to comeback. I thought for sure this was going to be the typical boring Ranger game at 5-2, but I give then full marks for fighting their way back. Which as a fan is all I can ask for.

...Biron is a backup for a reason, so I don't expect him to be great every start but he's got to be better than he was tonight.

...not the best game for Staal, who, for someone that is supposed to be the Rangers best defenseman, has been very up and down so far.

...Frolov invisible again.

...the resurrection of Sean Avery continues with another great effort.

...from Torts' post game, sounds like Anisimov's ankle injury may be serious, which the Rangers can ill afford.

...nice to see White step-up when called upon. Thought he gave the team a nice spark with his goal.

...Boogaard is a pylon out there. If there isn't a tough guy on the other team there is just no reason to have him out there. Bring up Byers and have him platoon with the Boogie Man.

...Stepan had a bit of a struggle tonight that ended with the resurgent Boyle taking his place (and score a goal) on the second line.

...i don't normally post about an opposing player but Byfuglien (1g & +1) was a beast tonight. Six shots on goal and another hit the pipe. Rangers defensemen, who are prone to having their shots blocked, should watch tape of this guy.

...off tomorrow then the Hurricanes blow into town. Sorry that was bad.

Getting Your Beer Money's Worth at MSG? (Updated)

Update, 12:30 p.m.:
Wyshynski just sent me a tweet saying all the prices came from Team Marketing Report. And that when Puck Daddy tried to do their own report last year, it was a cluster-eff.

Update, 12:27 p.m.:

Not sure where Wyshynski got his numbers from, but a lot of discrepancies in his comments section. Puck Daddy is, in my opinion, the best NHL blog out there, but it looks like they needed to do some better research on this.

Original Post:
Greg Wyshynski at Puck Daddy does a beer cost index with all 30 NHL teams. And believe it or not the Rangers have the second lowest cost per ounce in the league with $0.31 per ounce ($7.50 for a 24oz.)

Wyshynski says while the cost for beer at MSG isn't cheap you get your money's worth because of the 24oz.

...the information Wysh is reporting is for the souvenir cups. And I think the price is actually $8.50.

...most fans I know, myself included, usually go for the plastic 16oz bottles. Which I also think (I'm usually so inebriated I don't remember price) is $8.50. If that's the case the cost per ounce
would go up significantly to $0.53 per ounce putting the Rangers at fourth highest in the league.

Prust Loves NY

In his diary over at am New York, Brandon Prust talks about his fondness of New York City...

"I was excited about playing in a big city and also about getting to live in Manhattan. Nothing can beat the pace of this city! I live on the Upper West Side, but I find myself spending a lot time downtown. Some of my favorite spots are La Esquina (best tacos in the city), LAVO and The Eldridge, which is always a good scene."

The Next Chapter for TheNYRBlog

Last week, I informed all of you that I was in discussions with the sports blog network Bloguin about moving TheNYRBlog under their umbrella.

I first want to express my sincere appreciation for all the feedback I received, next I'd like to announce that I have accepted Bloguin's offer to join their network.

I'm not sure when the transformation will begin, but I know they want to get started as soon as possible and I'm super pumped to get going.

I did want to address one issue as a number of readers expressed concern about Bloguin censoring me or the blog losing it's little guy feel.

Let me end that notion right now. The Bloguin people have assured me that I will be able to run the blog as I always have. They know what made this blog popular and that holding me back will only hurt them in the long run.

At the end of the day I could have continued the blog as is (which I had no problem with), but I'd always be behind the technology as I don't know how to create an App or a mobile version of the blog (which a lot of you complained about). I will now have those resources available to me to make TheNYRBlog experience that much better for my readers. A little extra cash doesn't hurt either.

Plus, I'll be able to setup my comments section so that they'll be no more anonymous posters!!!!

This was a real difficult decision for me as I love the blog and the community of readers it has attracted. The last thing I would ever want to do is ruin what we have here. Trust me I tried to find the negatives of moving and just couldn't come up with any. I promise you this will be an outstanding move not only for the blog but for it's dedicated readership as well.

If you have any questions about the process, please do not hesitate to e-mail me at nyrfan94@yahoo.com.

TheNYRBlog Reader Reason for Boyle Resurgence

Here's a pic of TheNYRBlog reader Elissa J. (aka @sarcasmpucktail) talking with Brian Boyle this preseason. Not sure what advice she gave to him, but whatever it was seems to be working as Boyle's outstanding play has been one of the biggest Ranger surprises of this early season...

Torts Doesn't Want White to Lose Confidence

Jesse Spector at the Blueshirts Blog has this quote from John Tortorella on Todd White's lack of playing time...

“I don’t want him to lose confidence because he’s not getting the minutes,” Tortorella said. “He’s a veteran enough player and a mature enough player to see that the other three lines are playing pretty well. So that’s where we’re at. That could change, as we go through, if some guys start struggling, and I have the luxury of a guy that can play defense and also contribute offensively. He understands that now, and the biggest thing I want him to work through is not to lose his confidence because of this role that he’s in right now.”

...i'm sure White knew the deal coming in. He should be thrilled he's even on an NHL team right now. I'm not worried about his confidence b/c he'll be back in the press box once players start to return from injury.

Torts also talks about the maturation of Brandon Dubinsky...

“You see the situations I’ve put him in,” Tortorella said. “He’s maturing, he’s handled himself very well this year. Very well.”

...big difference in Torts assessment of Dubi this year than last.

Gaborik Could Be Skating By End of the Week (Updated)

Updated, 1:16 p.m.:
Andrew Gross tweets that Chris Drury is still a long ways off.

Original Post:

Gaborik said he hopes to be skating by end of week or early next week; also said he is very happy with how well team has been playingless than a minute ago via TweetDeck

...with the way the team is playing let's hope he takes a long to time to return. I kid, I kid. This is obviously great news.

Steve Zipay at Newsday had more on Gaborik's recovery in Sunday's paper.

Everyone's on the Ice

Everybody on ice for #NYRangers. Lines the same: Dubi-Anisimov-Cally, Avery-Stepan-Fedotenko, Frolov-Christensen-Prust, Boogey-White-Boyleless than a minute ago via HootSuite

...it really is nice to finally have some consistency with the lines. Got to give Torts credit for at least sticking with Anisimov and Stepan lines despite injuries.

You CAN Rebuild in New York

John Buccigross at ESPN says despite what some people say you can rebuild in New York...

"I keep hearing over the years that you can't rebuild in New York. I've never, ever, understood this. If there is one place you can rebuild, it is here. The fans are smart and passionate. They would be able to see the picture. Their winter sports teams have been dreadfully bad or dreadfully boring. They have so much revenue from Madison Square Garden and are so insulated from Cablevision and the megalopolis that the Rangers are the easiest franchise to rebuild. And I think the fans would embrace a young, scrappy, up-and-coming team. I know they would."

...i couldn't agree more with Buccigross.

...i think the Rangers are on the borderline of rebuilding as they have integrated a number of young players into the lineup. I would have loved to have seen them give maybe MZA or Grachev a chance instead of signing Frolov or somehow work out a rotation with McD or Valentenko instead of Eminger. But I think this is the closest we'll get to a youth movement with the Rangers. And don't forget young players such as the aforementioned two young defensemen as well as Kreider, Bourge, Werek and Hagelin are only a year or two away.

...h/t to reader Joseph P. for the link.

Another TheNYRBlog reader Gary took video of Pete from the stands.

Power Rankings

TSN has the Rangers at #12 in their most recent power rankings...

12. Rangers - With all the promising youngsters on the Blueshirts' blueline, 32-year-old Michal Rozsival is the workhorse, leading the unit with 25:14 of ice time per game and six points in seven games.

...where's your booing now. J/J

...could you amagine if this hot start from Rozsival actually peaked some interest from other teams? I've been defending him against the booing, but I'd also ship him out in two seconds. Especialy if it meant either McD or Valentenko would be recalled.

ESPN and CBS Sports also released their power rankings.

Nylander Injures Vertebra, Career Could Be Over

Kevin Oklobzija at the Democrat and Chronicle reports that former Ranger Michael Nylander will undergo possible career ending surgery after suffering an injury to a vertebra in his neck when he was checked from behind and fell into the boards at a somewhat awkward angle during the Rochester Americans 4-1 loss to the Grand Rapids Griffins of the AHL.

Nylander was loaned to the Amerks in late September by the Washington Capitals.

...i know Nylander probably won't be happy that his career may end this way, but he should be thankful he's even able to walk after injuring a vertebra.

...i've said time and time again on this blog that one of Sather's biggest mistakes was not re-signing Nylander and instead going after both Gomez and Drury. The chemistry Nylander had with Jagr was something that couldn't be replaced and neither player was the same after Nylander moved on.

Prust Taking A Shine...r To TheNYRBlog Reader

TheNYRBlog reader Beth K. sends over this pic of her and Brandon Prust before last night's game. Beth was also able to get autographs from Tortorella, Biron and Sauer to add to her collection of almost 30 sigs on her jersey.

...this is an example of why hockey players are the best in all of sports. Prust is obviously suffering from a nasty eye injury and could easily slip into the Garden without acknowledging anyone, but he not only takes time out of his day to pose for a pic, he goes out and has another solid performance on the ice. God I love hockey.

...as I've said, I love the pics of my readers. Keep them coming to my e-mail (nyrfan94@yahoo.com)

Rangers Reassign Williams

Callahan Disappointed in Rozsival Boos

I posted this article in my Monday Headlines, but felt a post on it was warranted.

Andrew Gross at the Bergen Record reports Ryan Callahan admitted the rough treatment Rozsival routinely receives from the home fans "gets under my skin"...

"Look how many minutes he logs per night and what he does for us," Callahan said. "It’s disappointing to hear the boos coming from the stands. I don’t think it’s right."

...the fact that any Ranger player was booed last night is a joke. The Rangers are playing their best hockey of the young season and no one deserves to be booed right now.

...regarding Rozsival, I am surprised that he is still getting razzed the way he is. Sure, he will sometimes look completely lost out there, but he has for the most part played solid defense since the middle of last season and now he is shooting with more frequency.

...to me this has to do with the lack of real Ranger fans attending games these days. The suits that are getting corporate tickets have no clue what is going on and are just booing because they remember booing Rozsival when they got their free ticket last season.

Dubinsky Named Puck Daddy 3rd Star

For his efforts in last night's 3-1 win over the Devils, Brandon Dubinsky was named Sunday's 3rd Star by Puck Daddy...

No. 3 Star: Brandon Dubinsky, New York Rangers
Along with leading all Rangers forwards in ice time, Dubinsky shot to set up Ryan Callahan's deflection for a power-play goal and his empty-netter iced it for a 3-1 Rangers' win over the bumbling New Jersey Devils. Stick tap to Henrik Lundqvist for coming up big when he needed to during a 27-save performance.

Michal Rozsival was given an honorable mention.

...like I said in my post game thoughts Dubinsky is turning into the player we always hoped he would. Got to give Sather credit for not pulling the trigger on any of the trade proposals that Dubinsky's name was mentioned in.

Sauer Was Sore

In my post game thoughts I mistakenly ranted about Mike Sauer being a healthy scratch, but Andrew Gross at Ranger Rants sets the record straight by reporting Sauer was a scratch last night because of soreness following Saturday’s 3-2 win at Boston.

Both Eminger and Sauer were on the ice for pregame warmups, but Sauer realized during the warmups he would be unable to play.

...hey, I miss some things sometimes.

Rangers 3, Devils 1

The New York Rangers (4-2-1) defeated the New Jersey Devils (2-6-1) by the score of 3-1, tonight. For a recap and box score go to Yahoo! Sports and newyorkrangers.com.

...i'm not going to get too over-excited, but man it is fun watching this team right now.

...no one deserved a goal more than Callahan last night. The guy has been busting it all season and finally has something to show for it.

...Rozsival has more shots these last three games than the last three years. Not sure what happened, but lets hope this continues.

...Lundqvist is amazing on a gamely basis, but man does he step it up a notch with Brodeur at the other end of the ice. Rangers might want to trade for Brodeur just so they can sit him in the front row behind the opponent's net every game.

...Dubinsky is really starting to turn into the two-way player we all expected. Anyone want to trade him now?

...i'm always on Del Zotto for his -20 last year, so I have to give him props for his +2 last night which puts him at +4 for the season. Just as shooting the puck has clicked with Rozy it looks like the same has happened with Del Zotto's defense the last three games.

...and Mike Sauer's reward for playing two solid games in a row is.....a seat in the press box. What!?!?!?

...before this three games in four nights started the Rangers were going the wrong way fast. Now they're one of the hottest teams in the league. I hope this isn't how the season is going to go as I can't handle the swings.

...not sure if anyone saw between the second & third period, but reader Pete, who was selected to shoot for a Volkswagen, just missed the car. Great effort. I don't think I would have come close.

...Off the next two games then the Thrashers are in town.
