New Lines At Practice

Andrew Gross at Ranger Rants reports new lines at practice today...

Dubinsky-Anisimov-Callahan
Frolov-Stepan-Fedotenko
Avery-Boyle-Prust
Boogaard-Christensen-White

The defensive pairings will remain the same and Henrik Lundqvist will get his fourth straight start tomorrow night against the Avalanche.

...i'm far from being an expert, but I would rather Torts leave the fourth line alone. To me the second and third lines should look like this...

Frolov-Stepan-Avery
White-Christensen-Fedotenko

...happy that Hank gets a fourth straight start as I'll be at the game tomorrow night.

I actually quite like the lines. Giving Boyle a bigger oppurtunity could work out well. Anisimov's line has been the best so far, and I dont think they should change it up.

Knowing Torts though any of those three left wingers could be on any of those 3 lines.

Ah, Tortorella and his love for chemistry. The best pairing of players through preseason and the beginning of this season has been Avery and Fedotenko, so let's break them up. Idiot.

As for the fourth line, well, it makes sense because Torts won't play Christy coming off injury much and he doesn't trust White of Boogey for a few minutes. Figure the other three lines will get much of the ice time - as Torts has always wanted.

I hear both you guys. I'm just a big fan of putting Avery on a line with a skill guy like Frolov.

I can never get out of my head how well that Jagr-Dubinsky-Avery line was a few years back that Renney for some reason abandoned.

i agree kevin. that line was the strangest trio of players but it just worked out. i wish he kept those lines all year. avery would have turned into a edgier straka or something like that.

Really really like the sandpaper combo of Avery-Boyle-Prust.

AFro hasn't had the kind of playmaking center that Step can be. I think this could unleash the Fro.

yet another random mismatching of over Ranger homegrown talent (dubinsky, callahan) and aquired talent that never seems to connect (Frolov)

they will accidentally bang in a few goals, and the defense will make sure that colorado scores more goals.

fun stuff.

now i know what its like to be a Met fan.

wow.

When you take Gaborik out of the lineup, makes you realize how incredibly bad this Ranger collection just is.

They have zero "first" line players.

ZERO

kevin - the line worked so well that dubinsky had what 40 pts?

anonymous at 3:15 nailoed it - without gabby we're full of 3rd and 4th liners at this pt in their careers

Take Boogy & White out and put Kennedy & Zuccarello back in!

LI Joe, they were only together for about two weeks and Dubi probably had 7-8 points in that span.

Actually I like the line combos as well. AA's line remains intact. Steps works to feed both Feds and Frolov who have a history of being able to bury the puck, why waste good passes on players who cannot finish. Boyle gets the upgrade to 3rd because of his commitment this year to play like he is supposed to. Avery and Prust can lend some hockey skill with the hopes that Prust crashes the net, hard. EC can take his time in recovering with 4th line minutes. Now if they can only play a little D, all could go we..

kevin - dubinsky played a lot that season with jagr. maybe not with avery but he still had 40 pts playing a large amt of time with jagr. and playing with jagr should have yielded a lot more than that

mattias - kennedy is not the answer. all other 29 teams had a crack on him via waivers - or in case of buffalo they bought him out. and to come back he has to go through reverse waivers which if claimed would cost us 1/2 his salary for a player we would no longer have. so forget kennedy until march at earliest since pro rated it might be worth the risk then - not now of course.
