Ranger Fans Still Haven't Forgiven Girardi

In Puck Daddy's hysterical "Jersey Foul" series we get this Rangers jersey ripping Dan Girardi for not coming to Marian Gaborik's aid against Dan Carcillo last season...

...listen I was just as pissed as everyone else about Girardi sitting on the sidelines for the Gaborik/Carcillo incident, but man getting that jersey is a little overboard. Especially after Girardi redeemed himself with a beatdown of Hartnell in the second to last game of the season last year.

LOVE IT! Girardi's response was too late. Imagine if Gabby got hurt? Com'on, Carcillo knew what he was doing. He was not even in the vicinity of the scrum and skated from afar to specifically grab Gabby. You can't let your all-star get treated like that. Regardless of 3rd man in, you've got to jump in.

And KUDOS to Avery as the only Ranger who stood up to the Flyers after the incident IN THAT GAME.

Fighting Hartnell is one thing, good for Girardi, he showed he's not a complete pussy.

Sadly for him and several other Rangers that stood by and watched Gaborik get roughed up, there is absolutely no excuse for letting your star player and leading scorer get man-handled by a thug.

It is time to get over it. Gaborik wasn't attacked, he (stupidly) went at Carcillo. I know he's fragile, but he's not a baby holding a faberge egg.

Should Girardi have stepped in? Yeah but the fight happened/was over quickly, not to mention it is one incident whereas all other times Girardi has had no problem being physical and protecting his teammates. The fans who won't let this go just end up looking petty and uneducated.

I was at the game, considering how badly I lost my mind when it happened, I will never completely forgive him for it. But would I waste a perfectly good jersey calling him out? No.

First off Chris is right, Gaborik dropped the gloves first. However, I remember more than a few times that Mr. Graves stepped in to take on someone going after Messier, and Messier could handle himself. I can let it go, because I seriously doubt something like that would happen again with this team, or with Girardi

Rangers are the same organization that let Gretzky get pushed around without retribution.

It's time for change.

No way would this be tolerated if it happened to Cindy or AO.

This is all there is to it:

Bradley comes FLYING out of nowhere to defend Ovechkin.

Yes, Gaborik went after Carcillo a bit but that doesn't mean a Ranger player shouldn't have stepped in. It's pretty sad, but it's in the past. Incidents like this have to be dealt with RIGHT away IMO.

could shoulda woulda, let it go already! Do you really think that Girardi didn't learn his lesson after that? or does he just need to see a sarcastic jersey to get it? How does that jersey help? Unless you think Girardi needs to be boo'd out of town and replaced with Eminger then get over it.

that chic spent $150 on that jersey...that is an expensive joke.

I think it's funny. but get over it lady. and totally right, that beatdown of Hartnell was redemptive

also, Gabby's a badass. in an ideal world where injury risk is not a factor in a fight, i'd love to see him throw down against any top tier skilled forward (not power forwarD).

Gaborik wanted to fight. Not every superstar in the league is automatically a non-fighting pussy....unless it's a Ranger.

gaborik didn't want to fight carcillo threw a punch with his glvoe and he was simply defending himself from that goon carcillo. that being said i think girardi was wary of tortarellas reaction to taking a third man in. i cant fault him the first time

I for one am tired of the puking and moaning of Girardi not doing anything. The league with its directives have taken the game and player policing down to the non-existent level. Instigator and 3rd man in rules are drilled into your head and the consequences are more of a punishment that what is done on the ice, League officials and coaches preach so much about keeping it clean and not costing your team dumb penalties that your instints no longer govern your reactions. When the thought process overrides your instints you act like Girardi. He is a product of the gentlemans game that Buttman pushes. Slats signing Boggy and the draft choice of 'The undertaker' was a change in how the NYR's are to perceived in the future. Something good has come out of that fight.
