Rick Carpiniello at Ranger Rants has numerous quotes from John Tortorella's press conference including this one on whether he thinks this team is better than last year's...

“And again, the bottom line is that the kids are intact. They’re still here and they’re going to improve as we go along. That’s where I see, I think, we’ll improve as a hockey club.”
...i'm with Torts here. This team is, in my opinion, dramatically better than last year's. I'm with Torts as well, nut I just wonder when Staal, Callahan & Dubinsky will lose the kids moniker. Staal just signed a pretty grown up contract.
The team is not only better, but much more appropriate for Torts style of play. I was surprised by all the rumors that Torts could be fired last year. He was working with a team that was between styles as far as players and abilities go. Now we have kids, journeymen, and long-time veterans that all are capable of Torts' demanding style.
I'm pumped to see what this team is really capable of doing. I'm even more pumped to see what the Rangers will look like in 2012-13.
Where was Torts when I submitted my guest blog?...(Rangers this year compared to last) still say we score more goals but give up more too...
Imagine if we still had Tyutin on the team. Defense would be pretty much set.
