Prospal to Have Season Ending Surgery?

In Larry Brooks article in the New York Post today he reports this on Vinny Prospal's knee...

"Meanwhile, a well-placed source has told The Post that there's little reason for optimism that the condition of Vinny Prospal's right knee will improve following his enforced two-week rest period. Indeed, we're told it would be no surprise at all should the 35-year-old require surgery that would likely end his season, if not his career."

...well that ends up being a bad signing if true. Although, I'd rather he'd be done for the season than being in and out of the lineup all season long. While, most likely being ineffective.

Thanks for the h/t Kevin.

This is not good. I'm all for giving the kids a chance, but you need some veteran presence on a team.

You have to wonder how much scrutiny Sather, et al. gave to the condition of Prospal's knee when deciding to throw another $2.1M at him in July.

Sad news, I really like what Vinny brings to the team.

We got Fedotenko for 1yr 1mil now so at least we filled his spot with another good contract. I would say Id rather a kid play but I think the rest need more time in Hartford including MZA

Still think we should have traded prospal at deadline last year, could have easily got a 2nd rounder

i thought a large part of prospals contract was bonus so if he doesn't play he can't get bonus. i think bases is around 1 mm or so
