Hurricanes 4, Rangers 3

The New York Rangers (4-4-1) lost to the Carolina Hurricanes (5-4-1) by the score of 4-3, tonight. For a recap and box score go to Yahoo! Sports and newyorkrangers.com.

...that's one of those loses I can't find too much wrong with what the team did. Lots of offense, good forecheck, plenty of energy, but they just couldn't get it done. A hot Cam Ward didn't help.

...pk has been covering up for a lot of penalties and tonight it caught up with them.

...Callahan's goal scoring (three straight games with a goal) is finally catching up with his hard work.

...got to feel for Hank tonight. Guy was standing on his head and has nothing to show for it.

...nice to see Staal adding a little scoring to his game lately, but it seems that it's coming at the expense of his defense.

...Dubinsky continues his hot start with a sweet goal giving him nine points in nine games (5g, 4a).

...too bad that kid Skinner didn't drop to the Rangers in this year's draft, huh.

...man don't know why I didn't notice how big Grachev was during the preseason, but he's huge. One nice shift when he had a nice hit, went to the net and deflected the puck. Other than that pretty invisible.

...glad Torts wanted to get White more involved. Too bad he only gave him seven minutes.

...only one point for Christensen, four less than he expected when the game started.

...right back at it again in Toronto tomorrow night. Biron?

In Toronto? No chance Hank plays! Valiquette has a better chance of starting, and hes not even on the team ;)

I knew I'd get a reaction with that comment. No way Biron is in there tomorrow.

What did you expect from Grachev in 7mins of ice time??

then again grachev is not scoring in hartford either with lots more time

dubinsky up to 60% of his goals with a goalie in net

I thought Grachev looked good for the mount of ice he had. He should be playing, not Booger.

Avery had another really good game.

did anyone else think callahan's goal was amazing? and for that matter dubinsky? Him and callahan are carrying this team offensively.

Would like to see Staal focus more on his defensive game. On ice for 3 of the 4 goals?! NOT ACCEPTABLE.

Was at the game and Lundqvist stood on his head. Too bad the Canes had so many second, third, fourth chances after his initial saves. Lundvist was pretty pissed at the end of the game. Someone, get this guy some help in front of the net. And is it just me or are the Dmen getting beat way too often on the outside?

Rather than dissect the details, why not call it what it is -- a heap of shit.

a thinly talented, poorly coached collection of 3rd and 4th liners, and 5th and 6th defensemen, trying to voer acheieve on a nightly basis against teams that are only slightly more talented than them

sad sad sad.

As much as I love the scrapiness and work ethich of Dubinsky, Callahan & Avery, this team lacks finesse. I watch these guys pass the pucks and I think their using clubs rather than sticks! Where is the finesse? We need some guys with soft hands and a natural scoring touch.

after watching skinner, it kinda makes me wonder why we stick with grachev?

I agree with almost everyone. Avery, Cally, Dubi, and AA really have stepped up. Even though we lost last nights game it was exciting. I love when we are down and we fight back. We should have went up 4-3 when Cally skated the puck up with with Dubi on a 2 on 1. Instead he completely screwed up the chance. First he stopped skating as hard as he could. This is hockey the faster you move the harder it is for the defense and goalie to react. Second doesn't make a pass to Dubi. These are professionals they should have passed atleast 1 or 2 times!!! He doesnt create a good angle shot for himself but shoots anyway. Easy save for Cam Ward. We just dont have enough players with skills. I thought Stepan I had a great game but again he has to bury that one timer. Where are all the fan boys to defend Staal now? Probably his worse game ever. He scored a goal but that was completely washed away when he turned over the puck to Skinner on our own blue line. I will end on a good note Girardi is playing awesome.

MDZ needs to step his game up. All he has been doing is turning the puck over and making bad plays, and now he can't even q.b the power play better than rozy! Bench him, bring up valentenko, and pray the message gets through. Eminger still needs to go in place of one of the prospects, but he has stepped up some in the physicality department, as opposed to gilroy who still fumbles the puck every shift.

so "the king" in 1 post trashes cally and staal. cally is playing best of everybody and the d played the pass. i know i would never want to be in a bunker with the king if there was a war going on. i'd be too worried about being stabbed in the back rather than shot by the enemy

Hahaha that was a good one LI. But how am I trashing Cally? I analyzed one play that he poorly executed. It was a very important play in the game. If he made it happen with the puck we could have one that game or came away with at least 1 point. I named the guys that deserve credit in the beginning of the post. I was down on Dubi and Cally preseason but their line is playing awesome. They would be a solid 2nd line.
