Gilroy's Confidence Takes a Hit

Jesse Spector at the Blueshirts Blog has this quote from Matt Gilroy on the current state of his confidence after being a healthy scratch in the first two games...

“It took a little bit of a hit,” Gilroy said. “What I have to worry about is what I can control, and go from there. I know nothing. It’s not my call. I just go with what they tell me to do, and go with it like that.”

Gilroy also said it was “a little tough” playing on the left side of defense, which is not his natural position as a righthanded shot.

...man is it me or are the wheels falling off just three games into the season? Injuries, coach and players not on the same page, players not happy with their rolls, porous defense, high priced free agents not playing well (Frolov, Boogaard).

...plenty of time to turn this around, but it looks like things are going to get worse before they get better.

...man am I a Debbie Downer or what? Sorry.

Not sure the wheels are quite off, but there is definitely a hole in the tire that if not patched soon will either go flat or explode.

not a debbie downer, you arent painting things nearly as bad as they actually ARE.

the facade of preseason success and hopefulness is completely GONE, exposing the mess that exists in this organization.

with gaborik gone, its just a mess of mismatched forwards, pushing the puck towards the net attempting to bang goals in.

add in the out of place defenseman, and the lack of a tough d-man and the other teams are CLEARLY dictating the pace of every game right from the faceoff

Totalretard has this loser team playing reactive hockey.

cant wait until he starts chaning lines continuously, because that works so well.

its going to be a very long season, and likely worse than last year.

this is a very young team. defense is 2nd youngest in league and overall team is 9th youngest. so they are bound for some bumps along the way and if they get top 5 pick all the better as long as they don;t trade the pick

people wanted a youth movement and they have it

Gilroy is should be ashamed of himself. He saw that rug run Gaborik into the boards and he did nothing. What a fraud. He belongs in Hartford. Bring up mcDonagh!

It's game 3 people. Better to work on the kinks now than in March. How'd that 7-0 start last year go for the team?

It is the same kid that dropped the mitts when prospel got laid out in Florida....gabby went down awkawardly by himself...give gilly a break first game of the season, unlike the rest of the guys he has to get some more game action before you start judging him.

i was at the game i thought gilroy added some offence but he had a few give aways in his own zone but not bad for his first game

Where does a Frolov/Christiansen/White line fit into the mix? Third I guess?

I think Boogard has played pretty well. Torts just wont seem to use him more than 3 or 4 minutes a night. He had a few shots on goal, 1 massive hit, and no one has the cajones to drop the gloves with him.
