Rangers, Staal Close to an Agreement (Updated)

Update, 3:44 p.m.:
Steve Zipay at Blue Notes chimes in stating that both sides are talking but nothing is imminent.

Update, 3:36 p.m.:

Andrew Gross at Ranger Rants says he's also been told by an NHL source that the two sides are close and that money is the issue holding it up.

...nice to see Gross getting the same info so get ready Ranger fans good news is just over the horizon.

...let's all hope for Staal to get overpaid so it will be that much more likely Redden is gone.

Original Post:
Mike Brophy at Sportsnet reports that the Rangers and Marc Staal are said to be close to reaching a contract agreement.

...you figured it was just a matter of time. Very interested in what the numbers will be.

...h/t to Puck Central for the link.

Is it too much to dream of a long term deal for staal?

redden is gone anyway. i don't want the fanbase to turn against staal so rather he be fairly paid.
