Tonight's Scratches

Update, 11:56 a.m.:
Gross tweets that Drury may start the season on IR.

Update, 11:51 a.m.:
Zipay tweets forward lines:

Frolov-Christensen-Gaborik
Avery-Stepan-Fedotenko
Kennedy-Anisimov-Callahan
Boogaard-White-Prust

...looks less and less like Stepan is going to start the year on a line with Gabby and AFro.

Update, 11:50 a.m.:

Andrew Gross tweets tonight's defensive pairings: Gilroy-Valentenko, Del Zotto-Rozsival, Staal-Sauer.

...big games for Sauer and Valentenko.

Original Post:
Steve Zipay tweets...

Prospal, Dubinsky, Boyle scratches up front vs Wingsless than a minute ago via web

Zipay also tweets that the defensive scratches appear to be Dan Girardi, Steve Eminger and Ryan McDonagh. Henrik Lundqvist will be in goal.

...surprised that Boyle's not in there as he is a bubble guy. McDonagh as well, unless he's already locked up a spot.

...i assume Eminger is out because of his groin injury.

Does this mean Boyle is in?

I was wonderin that myself. I would lean towards yes, if not for size alone, even though his skating's much improved.

I would say both Boyle and McD are in. Eminger is hurt and I hope they go with Sauer as the 7th but its kind of hard when they guy is hurt

Stepan is the real interesting call for me. If he does well 2nite he likely gets a shot

Substitute dubi for kennedy and an maybe even Boyle for white... That would be my starting lineup for opening night....

I'd love to see Sauer and Valentenko get in on D because I like their edges, but I think the last 2 (assuming Gilroy is #5) will be Eminger and McDonagh. I just can't see them going with 1 vet and 6 young d, 4 of which are in the league for 1 year or less. But I do see a trade coming!

I disagree... I see it more as. Torts saying to EC:
"Stepan is here and ready to go... so this is your chance to win the 1st line center spot."

I hope you're right.
