Redden's Agent Doesn't Want to Talk Europe

In yesterday's New York Post, Larry Brooks asked Wade Redden's agent about his client playing in Europe...

"Redden's agent, Don Meehan, respectfully declined to respond to an inquiry from The Post whether he has been in contact with clubs in Europe on behalf of his client as an alternative to playing with the AHL Wolf Pack should the defenseman in fact go through waivers."

...sort of a disrespectful question. I can't wait for Redden to be dropped, but it's a bit unprofessional for Brooks to be asking that type of question before the beleaguered defenseman is waived.

Brooks also thinks the Rangers may investigate the possibility of obtaining Sheldon Souray.

...unless it's Redden going back to Edmonton, not sure how a move for Souray makes sense.

Good point Joe.

I don't think its disrespectful at all. It's a realistic question. It's Meehan's right to refuse to answer it and it would have been disrespectful for Brooks to follow up by peppering him with similar questions, but that didn't happen here. Redden and his agent know that the Rangers are over cap and he's making a boatload of money and under-performing. Brooks wouldn't be doing his job if he didn't ask the question.

I hear you Rob, I just felt the question was a bit of a slap in the face.

Brooks has been anti-Redden more than most. I think he's anticipating a classless move like going to Europe from Redden, and thats why he asked the question.

Back to Edmonton? His NHL career has only been the Sens and NYR...unless you're talking minors...either way good for Brooks to ask the question.

Pretty sure he meant that Redden would be the player going back to Edmonton in a trade, not that he was returning too edmonton.
