White Excited to Get New Start

Jesse Spector at the Blueshirts Blog talks with newest Ranger Todd White on having redemption on his mind this season...

“I was excited to get a new start,” White said the other day. “Things didn’t go the way I wanted in Atlanta last year, and then having an injury the last part of the year. It was a good time for me to move on and get a chance to play the way I did a couple of years ago.”

...this training camp will be huge for White. If he can come in and get back to his form of two years ago he could make an impact this season. If he falters he could be riding the bus in Hartford. A lot hinges on how he recovers from his injury.

Spector also reports that
the Rangers’ informal pre-camp skating program takes a day off today as prospects headed to the Traverse City Rookie Tournament take the ice at the MSG Training Center.

colin white had 1 good yr offensively in last 6 so to me at least that yr seems to be the outlier. i fully expect him to be in ahl especially with his cap hit and multiple injuries

I agree, Joe. He needs a really strong camp to make the team. But he's 35, does that mean his cap hit stays a la Brashear? Or does it go since he singed the contract when he was younger?

chef - the determining factor is age when contract starts so white is considered under 35 and can be sent down with no mcap hit. if they tried to bring him up and he was claimed by another team the cap hit would be 50% just like averys is to dallas
