Thomas Starts Junior Season With A Bang; Werek Injury a Concern

Jess Rubenstein at The Prospect Park reports that Rangers 2010 2nd round pick Christian Thomas is already on his way towards trumping last year's 41-goal effort by starting this season with a two-goal effort as his Oshawa Generals routed the Peteborough Petes 9-2 last night.

In other prospect news, Rubenstein is concerned with the knee injury Ethan Werek suffered during camp. This is particularly concerning because Werek tore is MCL back in March.

Details of the most recent injury have yet to be made clear.

...the knock on Thomas so far has been his size. But if he can continue to find the back of the net the next few seasons in either Juniors or AHL, the Rangers will have no choice but to find a spot for him on the roster.

...Rubenstein is very high on Werek, so I'd hate to so his balky knee stunt his growth.
