...met him at draft day party. Great kid. Nice to see him come in and set an example.

Spector tweets that Prust looks like he is actually enjoying the conditional drills and first round pick McIlrath looks strong.

TSN says that in contrast to several erroneous reports earlier in the day, former NHL head coach Pat Burns is alive.

Zipay tweets that Redden says he was told he has a clean slate and an opp to make the team, won't dwell on past. "They have some choices to make."

Update, 12:47 p.m.:
Staple tweets that Lundqvist's absence is precautionary - planned ahead by the medical staff. And will be on the ice tomorrow.

Zipay tweets that despite missing conditioning tests Gaborik was on the ice.

Gross tweets the fourth group is coming up including Dubinsky, Anisimov, Prust, Girardi, Staal.

Arthur Staple tweets that Gaborik (back) is skipping today's conditioning skate. Henrik Lundqvist too.

...always nice when you're two best players are sitting out the first day of camp. NOT!!!

Spector tweets that Drury and Cally match each other stride for stride, while Semenov is faster than we think.

Treff says Redden is slow.

Spector also tweets that Tortorella glued his eyes on Boogaard for a lap as Eminger almost lapped the enforcer.

...not a good way to start your Ranger career for Boogaard.

Update, 11:40 a.m.:
Leslie Treff tweets that Del Zotto cramped up at the end of his sprints, but he is looking much bulkier than last season.

Andrew Gross adds that Del Zotto also had some breathing issues today due to nose surgery. But got through the skate.

Andrew Gross at Ranger Rants has this quote from MZA...

“Everybody is battling for maybe five, six spots,” Zuccarello said “I’m coming here with an open mind. I want to make the team and I hope they find a spot for me. If not, it’s not the end of the world. I’ll keep working. The things I do on the ice, I have to do faster. You have to know what to do with the puck before you get it.”

Leslie Treff tweets that the third group will consist of, among others, Prospal, Drury, Cally, Boogaard, Kennedy, Redden, Semenov, Kundratek and Niemi.

Greg Wyshynski at Puck Daddy tweets that Sean Avery took down the 3rd jersey pic from his blog.

...oops looks like someone got in trouble.

Jesse Spector tweets that Brian Boyle is moving well, Fedotenko looks very fresh and rookie Roman Horak is struggling.

Leslie Treff tweets that Lundqvist is not doing sprints and that Bourque is putting out a nice effort.

Andrew Gross tweets that Avery is tearing up the endurance skate for second straight year.

...apparently he looked real good during the informal practices as well. Looks like he has something to prove this year.

Leslie Treff at Hockey's Future says Del Zotto looks much faster.

Andrew Gross tweets that the second group for sprints includes Avery, Del Zotto, Rozsival, Lundqvist, Weise and White.

Update: 9:55 a.m.:
@thenyrangers tweets that Gilroy was flying this morning. While Jesse Spector says the stars of the first half-hour of camp were Evgeny Grachev and Chris McKelvie.

Steve Zipay tweets that MZA is struggling in first drills.

...uh oh. We all remember Sanguinetti's struggles last year and now he's with the Canes.

I was hoping that MZA would be a fitness freak to make up for his size. But, it's the 1st day of camp so we can't really read much into it. Remember last camp, MDZ also struggled A LOT along with Sangs and he had a pretty decent rookie season
