Boyle Looking to be Different Player This Year

Jesse Spector at the Blueshirts Blog caught up with Brian Boyle today and discussed how he plans on being a different player this season...

“It’s the physical stuff, using my body to protect pucks, or using my body to run over a guy, or fighting a guy - anything I can do to use what I have as an advantage,” Boyle said. “(Size is) what I have that most other guys don’t. If I do everything better - if I’m skating better and I use my size, that brings my whole game up another level, and that’s what I try to work on."

...i thought Boyle was a mild disappointment last year and think he will start the season down in Hartford unless the Rangers need to keep him on the roster due to his salary ($525,000).

...i would much rather see Kennedy, Weise or Byers have that fourth line spot.

Steve Zipay at Blue Notes and Andrew Gross at Ranger Rants have more from today's informal practice.

boyle will be 21st or 22nd man sitting at least 1/2 the games. they might do same with kennedy but certainly not weise they won't ruin him that way. byers seems to be a career ahler

Agree-for a big man he sure does not use his assets to gain an advantage. Its a shame that you can't put Callahan into that body, he would know what to do with it. Would rather see Kennedy step it up than another year of Boyle.

He needs a nasty streak, maybe sports psychology?
