Rangers 5, Senators 4 (SO)

The New York Rangers (4-1-0) defeated the Ottawa Senators (2-5-0) by the score of 5-4 in a shootout, tonight. For a recap and box score go to Yahoo! Sports and newyorkrangers.com.

...absolutely have to love how the bubble guys continue to step up in big spots. Boyle and Fedotenko were two guys I thought had no chance of being on the opening night roster. Now I don't see how they can't. Boyle has been the biggest surprise this preseason.

...book Stepan's ticket to Buffalo. His short-handed goal was unreal.

...i'd have to say right now Sauer and Valentenko have outplayed Eminger and McDonagh for the 6th and 7th spots. Thought Eminger had a solid start to the game but fell apart as the game went on. Although with Rozsival still nursing a knee injury, three of those four might stick with the team

...until he scored I thought Staal was having a terrible game. He's seems a step slow this preseason. Could missing informals set a player back this much? Having said that let's hope he's not injured. He's still the Rangers best defenseman.

...Kennedy and White are lucky Drury and Prospal are hurt because they both might have been cut after tonight's game. They both need a hat trick tomorrow if they want any chance to hang around after the two injured vets come back.

...Boogaard looked like he didn't know what to do after he scored it had been so long. Now let's get one in the regular season big guy.

...i'm not used to this team scoring so many goals. It's pretty nice.

...got to mention the first period snow shower by Avery. God I love when he plays his game.

...same two teams go at it tomorrow night in Ottawa.

Had a perfect view of Avery's showerfrom my seat. When he is on his game he is the consumate agitator. Also, if Stepan doesn't make the squad after his preseason there needs to be a brain transplant in the braitrust of the team.

Kennedy should be lucky? Honestly, besides scoring, Kennedy has done well for the Rangers - Hustles, is hard to knock off the puck, creates shots. The only thing he hasn't done is score. But Kennedy should be on that team - regardless if Drury or prospol was healthy. If I had a choice between Dub and Ken, it's Kennedy. Dubinsky played okay - but Kennedy, Feds, Avery has played very well in preseason.
