"There is a physical presence that I bring to the game and to the guys," said Boogaard. "It helps them play to the best of their abilities, and that's what showcases a team at its best -- when every player doesn't have to be worried about using their skill set because of another team."
...i can guarantee that every skilled player in the league loves to play on a team with a intimidating force like Boogaard as they don't have to worry about being pushed around and can focus on making plays.
...but man that contract takes a lot of shine off of Boogaard's positives.

yeah but at least he's in his prime years, 28-34.
I dont have an issue with his contract....Its a drop in the bucket against the salary cap, for the best enforcer in the NHL, GET OVER IT!!!!
I'm excited by Booger, his highlight reels are amazing! And to be fair rarely do you see him starting fights & he's not dirty either. Apparently Wild fans say he hustles & checks like crazy...Cally on roids!!!
at fleisch14-saying the same thing. At 1.6M+ and to say we got the best at that position means something. We can't make that claim in any other category.
Dave,
You much not watch must Western Conference hockey. Boogaard is regarded to be as dirty as Matt Cooke
fleisch14, if he plays like the best enforcer in the league for the next four years I will say it was worth it.
The Rangers have been pushed around on home ice for years.
Orr helped to turn that around a bit, but if Boogey can make the Garden a place that other teams dont want to play, then he is worth every penny.
