Dupont: I'm Ready to Make the Jump

In an interview with Bob Crawford at the Hartford Wolf Pack's official website, Brody Dupont talks about what he can offer the Rangers...

"I’m excited for this camp, I think I’ve got to just come in and play my game. I think they might be looking for some more grit, and I think I could bring that to their team. And as far as roles, wherever they want me to play, I will. I think I’m ready to make the next jump. I’ve put in my time, I know I’m ready, I’ve done what I had to do in the American League I think, and I want to make the NHL now."

...i'm not sure it's going to happen but I'd like to see one of Byers, Weise or Dupont make the team out of camp as the fourth line center. I'd love for the Rangers to have a young, scrappy player in the lineup.

He is definitely not the youngster I'd prefer to make the team, not at all, im glad he thinks hes ready, I for one say Bollocks! would much rather see that that spot go to MZA or Grachev or Stepan, Whoever outta those 3 looks ready

Yeah, but you're not going to put one of these three on the fourth line getting 5-6 minutes when they can be down in Hartford getting major minutes fine tuning their game.

I think that fourth line center spot is open.

so with drury, aces, christ and white, where is there a space? i know whites not guarenteed but he is a two way center who would add some offense to the 4th line

I wouldn't say Drury is a lock at center this season.

Mr. Delury, ok i have to get this off my chest, i love your blog and your comments are usually spot on, but i just need to know one thing, other than the fact that you have a blog that many rangers fans read, what exactly makes you an expert on hockey and rangers hockey at that?

id say youre just a glorified rangers fan with a blog

but i still enjoy reading it =)

Who ever said I was an expert? You're exactly right when you say I'm nothing more than a fan who runs a blog. I've never represented myself as anything other.

@adam if anything mza and grachev have a very long shot at making this team and stepen is 100 percent playing one year in hartford. You have to be patient. Rangers screwed themselves with there contracts and this time next year a lot of our contracts will be up and a couple of bad ones, not to mention the possibility redden will be in hartford. Your questioning kevin and his ability to blog about rangers and hockey for that matter if you knew anything you'd understand that stepan is not nhl ready and that grachev and mza have a lot to prove at the nhl level and they can only prove that once they've made an impact in the ahl

From an employee/employer point of view, he's got a real point. He probably has done everything necessary at the AHL level. I just hope that Torts applies the MDZ approach. Last year he simply said "right now, based on his play, he's made the team." All we can ask as fans is that he applies that philosophy to every player evenly. If Brodie is one of the top 4 centers or top 8 wingers, he should be on the team.

Thanks Rob.

lol cmon kev i meant no disrespect, cant ya take a good ribbing every now and again from a random internet idiot?

as far as the open spot, id prefer to see somebody with far more upside, and duponts numbers suggest he is more of a rugged type of player that might be able to kill penalties, MZA was brought here to play, not go to the minors, he has a ridiculous amount of skill if youve watched his highlights and the olympics, as far as grachev, hes a beast who i thought looked ready in the preseason last year but the rangers brass figured he needed a year in the minors where he did struggle, but i think if grachev looks good with frolov and aces then we could have a very potent big talented roosky line, and im all for that!

Wow Adam you definitely got me. I really did think you were calling me out. Man that was bad.

wow played golf today and this randome dude came up to me and wanted to join our twosome.. at first i was kinda pissed as he seemed like an old lagger but turns out he's been a hardcore Rags fan since 1965!!! here I was thinking I was the only Rangers fan anywhere near the region of Montreal Quebec..this guy was hardcore i had my Rangers Driver cover, my New york Rangers Golf polo and this dude pulls out a sweet ass Rangers water bottle and putter..hahah we talked about all the shit the Rags have gone through during the 70's with Ratelle and Park et al being a glorious club but with foes that simply were too strong, we talked about the dark ages in the 80s and the glory years during the mid to late 90's ...anywasy it really made me realise something. It made me realise that no matter what this team will be back whetehr in 50 years or 100 this team will eventually come through... Its great to be a fan, I love this sport, Love this team, love this blog..can't wait for this season to start.. stick together guys i think we are gonna surprise a few people this year and if not.. whatever we'll be back next year.. the beauty of major sports..we die they keep kicking..lol .. pointless comment I know just had to share...
