THN Ranks Rangers #13

In The Hockey News' preseason rankings they have placed the Rangers at #13 in the 15-team Eastern Conference...

#13. Rangers
Why
: Missing the playoffs on the last day of the regular season must still be stinging the Rangers and it won’t help we’ve slotted them in at unlucky No. 13 for 2010-11. Goalie Henrik Lundqvist is about the only reason the Rangers are still afloat and you’ll be hard-pressed to find anyone who believes Marian Gaborik will make it through another season untouched by injury.

...i am loving every second of the so-called experts being down on the Rangers. Nothing says comeback season like The Hockey News ripping your team.

#13 actually seems rather generous, as opposed to ripping us.

You think 13 out of 15 is generous?!?!?!?

THN's always been anti-Rangers so I'm hardly surprised. That said, 'If' Gaborik does return to form and miss a significant amount of time then 13th probably isn't far off - but you could apply that logic to any team's top scorer.

Kevin: Out of 15?? Your post doesn't specify, so I assumed that it was 13th in the league (i.e., out of 30). But from your reaction, I'm assuming it was 13th in the conference, which of course is not very generous.

Anon, I'll specify in the post. Use a name please. Easier to respond to you. Thanks.

Looking at their predictions last year, this doesn't worry me at all.

13 out of 15 is not where i would put us I would about were we finished last season maybe a little better.

I think Rangers will make de post season, but will be out after the first round.

And 13? Cammon THN... and they are paid for that.

I looked at THN & they haven't unveiled everyone else yet but, come on. We're behind Toronto, Atlanta, Carolina & Tampa? After that you have last years playoff teams so I would understand 9th or 10th but I can't see all of those teams leapfrogging us. I know Atlanta made some moves but I'll believe it when I see it.

The Canadian hockey media hates the rangers its so obvious

They are not scaring me. They had us at 13 last year and boston first. They also said all we had was Gabby and Henrik.. Yet when it was carolina they say "on the
strength of Eric Staal up front and Cam Ward
in net, Carolina has two game-breakers"
And that puts them above us? THN is crap

Don't see the improvement over last years team, except for adding Frolov in lieu of Higgins. I would say its about even and the consistency is lagging as well.

teams i believe were clearly better than on paper not to mention other teams i believe is a push.
; toronto, montreal, fishsticks, sens, hurricanes, lightning, panthers, thrashers.

also i believe with pittsburghs loss of gonchar and their inablitiy to get crosby a winger i think theyll finish worse off.

chris 1/2 those teams are clearly better than us. pittsburgh is far better.

With parity in the league it all boils down to being consistent night in and night out. We can catch some teams that are in the doldrums is we play in that consistent area. We will falter if we are an up and down team and the teams we are even with are on up swings. If it wasn't for the up swing at the end of the season we would not have been even close to the PO's. The middle of the season sucked.
What needs to happen is the new faces have to bring their game every night because skill set wise I can't see how the skill set improved except for Frolov.
