Stepan & MZA Will Most Likely Start Season in Hartford

Steve Zipay at Blue Notes says prospect Derek Stepan will not be sent to the WHL this season and that it's either going to be the Rangers or Hartford.

...smart decision by the Rangers, not sure what a season in the WHL will do for Stepan. If he doesn't make the Rangers out of camp he'd be much better off learning the professional game in Hartford. Plus the Rangers could then call him up if he tears it up down there.

Meanwhile, over at VG Nett (a Norwegian website) an NHL expert says Mats Zuccarella-Aasen is expected to start the season in Hartford.

"I hope Mza will be on the ice in the first (home) game against Toronto. But I do not think he can manage to take a place in the team. A season in Hartford (the Rangers' B-team) will not hurt "Zuke" at all - it will only help him, "writes one of the growing number of NHL experts who have opinions about Mats Zuccarello Aasen.

...when the Rangers first signed MZA I thought for sure they'd find a way to have him in the opening night lineup, but as the summer has gone on I really don't see a spot for him right now unless he has a ridiculous camp forcing the Rangers to make a tough decision.

I'll believe the Norwegian papers before many of the U.S./Canadian press regarding MZA. Good to know...though I do hope he comes here and kicks ass.

We need more scoring than just Gaborik and Frolov, Dubi, Callahan, Prospal. Hoping that MZA can at least make the team and contribute. AA has a year under his belt and can maybe add to his totals as well. If Avery can play a decent game again-that should be enough to propel us into the PO's.

To be honest I'm not all that worried at our offense it our d I'm worried about

Last year was the year to be worried, with two rookies in the lineup and both R&R boys running around. But I hear ya and hopefully there was some maturity going on this off season.

"He's gonna be so much fun to watch at the Garden"
"He's gonna be so good, I'm telling you"
"Can't wait to watch him play"

Interesting listening to you Rags fans praise a player you knew nothing about 2 months ago. Personally, I can't wait to watch Travis Hamonic and James Wisniewski send this kid into the fourth row.

It's called learning 'ya tampon. Plus, how do you become aware of what you know in the 21st century? The internet. There are countless articles about MZA floating around and about thirty-five minutes of highlight footage.

...and it's not praise—he hasn't done anything yet. It's positive anticiaption.

How much did you know about John Tavares before the Islanders signed him? Oh, actually, probably a ton because you wrong islanders fans couldn't wait for your team to tank quick enough so you could get him.

"...tank quick enough to get him..."

Tank? We tanked during the final weeks of the 08-09 season? Last time I checked, during the final three weeks of the season, we shut out the Red Wings, embarrassed the Blackhawks, and schooled the Devils. Not to mention the fact that the Isles outworked virtually every opponent they faced that season and nearly jeopardized their chances at Tavares. No, we sucked bad enough that we deserved a great player like him. Don't be bitter bc he scored a game winning fluke goal on Henrik back in October.

Just wondering why your mom is like that. I don't remember any back hills country on the Island. Just back ally streets.

So is the troll saying in order to have a future in the nhl, your team has to go at least 18 years without a series win in order to improve and succeed? Damn, i knew the rangers were doing something wrong, we have failed to model our game on a team that refuses to improve. We should definitley lose the majority of our games next year and race the isles to the firt round pick! Because, you know, they're the pinnacle an all...
