It's done! 5 years, $3.975 million per. Great deal, I was afraid it would be way more.

agreed. that's a great deal and falls into the range a lot of us fans have proposed as fair, considering all things. To get him @ under $4 per is pretty amazing, especially with that duration.

Also, seems like fait accompli that Redden is going down.. kind of pathetic how it's being billed as "unless he plays terrific during camp, preseason..." Basically, it's either Redden or 3 other forwards we most likely could use. hmm, tough choice

I wonder if, perhaps, that Staal demanded as part of agreeing to a longer contract for less money that Redden would be waived.

That'd be great

Cant believe I actually woke up feeling this would happen. Very pleased with the cap hit. If Redden plays we can assume MZA, White, and Boogaard never will, and I doubt he went out and payed these players for nothing. Bye Redden. Im sure youll be embarassed to be told to play with kids, but you shouldnt have accepted a contract you werent even close to worth.

Please Redden go bye bye.

Was watching the pre-season thingie last night with Pidto (Sp?) and Maloney, Torts was brutally honest about how there were times Redden was on the ice when he didnt deserve to be.

please go byebye

Good work, everybody should be happy with this.

If he continues to develop into a premiere defenseman, this deal will look very nice on the books.

If not, there's no no-trade clause ;)

All seriousness, this is great news. Let the season begin!

seems like somne doubt that redden will be sent down. under the cap they have no choice. he's down in ahl this yr and then next yr gets sent down again (counts during summer though). then when cba ends he gets bought out with no cap hit. people saying please please please don't bother. its a done deal

AnnoyingJoe said...

Is it? Then why is Torts saying he needs to earn a spot?

Im just asking.
