"...There is probably one single reason that the Lightning will be on the outside looking into these playoffs.. Dan Boyle's injury. With Dan Boyle went the transition game and the Lightning are just now showing signs of recovery..Now that he is back and performing at a very high level, AND he is a pending UFA the teams are starting to line up.
The top team as of this writing appears to be the New York Rangers who can obviously stand to get an experience top tier puck moving UFA, but then again, who doesn't need Dan Boyle..."
...I hope this is true. The Rangers are in desperate need of a quarterback for their power play.
... I think the Rangers can get him for Montoya. The Lightning's goalie situation is pretty horrible with Holmqvist and Ramo.
...in the three games since returning from the disabled list Boyle has four points (2 goals, 2 assist) and is a -1.

Where do I sign up? Obviously, with Lundqvist in goal, Montoya is nothing more than trade bait. Let's do this.
They need to move more than montoya, for cap reasons. Im guessing Mara or Malik...lets do it!
I'm not against the Rangers getting Boyle but I'd rather the Ranger get a banger for their blueline. Obviously Boyle would help however, I think they need to add a little grit. Someone like Orpik from the Penguins.
A physical blueliner would be better. Is Orpik available with the pens still in the playoff picture.
I also would have to give up Montoya, our biggest trading chip for a 3 month player.
Earlier in the month I posted about the Rangers interest in Orpik - http://nyrangersblog.blogspot.com/2008/01/rangers-could-be-interested-in-orpik.html. Not sure the Pens would be interested in trading a tough d-man to the Rangers. Forgot about that salary cap, obviously the Rangers would need to add a current player to that deal for Boyle and like Fleisch14 said Malik and Mara are the obvious candidates.
I agree with you guys, I doubt the Pens and Rangers would trade with each. I was using Orpik's name as an example. They probably have to trade with someone from the West or a team from the East who falls out of the play-off picture. Would The ISlanders trade Witt to the Rangers if they drop out of the race?
As good as Witt is at doing his job, I dont think I could stomach him on the Rangers.
