Rangers Re-sign Girardi

Sam Weinman of The Rangers Report, reports that the Rangers have signed Dan Girardi to a two-year contract extension...

"Amidst a four-goal first period, the Rangers announced they signed Dan Girardi to a two-year contract extension.

Girardi, who would have been a restricted free agent this summer, will make $1.5 million in 2008-09, and $1.6 million the year after that. He made just $550,000 this season."

...while I'm sure Girardi would even admit that he's had an up and down season, I'm happy to see the Rangers extend his contract. I love to see our prospects succeed on the big club because it doesn't happen that often. That's why besides Girardi, its especially great to see so many home grown guys such of Dawes, Dubinski, Callahan, Lundqvist, Prucha, Tyutin and Staal playing so well for us.

Up and down season? I think he's been our most consistent d-man all year.
