Rangers vs. Canadiens Preview

Today the New York Rangers (26-22-6) visit the Montreal Canadiens (28-15-9) in the final game of their four game road trip. The Rangers have won four of their last five games to move into eighth place in the East. All-Star center Scott Gomez has four goals and 16 assists during a nine-game point streak against Montreal. Henrik Lundqvist has also been very successful against Montreal, going 5-0-0 with a 2.18 goals-against average in his last six starts. The Rangers have won three straight and five of their last six meetings with the Canadiens. New York's only loss in that span was a 6-4 defeat at Montreal on March 27. Montreal started this season playing well at home, going 5-2-1 in its first eight games. That, however, was followed by a 1-5-2 stretch there that had the Canadiens looking forward to playing on the road. They've since reverted to their early-season form at home lately, winning three straight and picking up at least one point six of their last seven games (5-1-1). The Canadiens have outscored opponents 16-3 during their current run at home, and are 4-0-1 in their last five overall contests to move within three points of Eastern Conference-leading Ottawa. ...for Ranger fans to believe in the Rangers recent surge, they need to win this game today. Especially, with upcoming home games against the lowly Kings and the struggling Ducks, an extended winning streak is not out of the realm of possibility.

...looks like Lundqvist's numbers are just as good against Montreal as they are against the Devils, so I expect him to continue his strong play.

...the Rangers are 9-2-2 when Drury scores, so I'm hoping for a third straight game with a goal for him.

...with a win tomorrow we can climb into seventh place in the conference and be only one point out of sixth. I know almost every team has games in hand, but just because you have games in hand doesn't mean you're going to win them.

...I forgot to congratulate Drury and Gomez on their 500th points the other night, so congrats guys.

...and one final thought, let's go GIANTS!!!
