Stan Fischler at MSGNetwork.com has a lot of criticism for Tom Renney in the wake of last night's disaster...One NHL scout, who watched the game, questions Renney's use of the fourth line.
"Jason Strudwick, Ryan Hollweg, and Blair Betts collectively were minus-6," notes the scout. "Plus, they had zero total shots on goal. Please explain to me why they play."

What also needs explanation is why Tom Renney would choose to have Jagr -- admittedly in a scoring slump -- take the Shootout rather than Scott Gomez. Plus, Renney should have yanked Hank after Montreal's fourth goal and inserted Steve Valiquette, who is much stronger when the pushing gets heavy in the crease.
...Stan should have told that scout fans have been asking why the fourth line plays so much all year.
...Renney deserves major criticism today, but not necessarily for what Fischler is saying. I never once thought during the game that Renney should have taken Lundqvist out. Although looking back maybe he should have. And as far as Jagr being used during the shootout. Hey, I know he's in a slump, but he's our Captain and needs to step up when needed and he didn't. I don't blame Renney for that.

I am probably president of the Renney fan club, and I dont have a problem with the 4th line. However I dont understand why you play Strudwick who has enough problems playing his natural positions (defense) on the 4th line against a team with superior talent and speed. All season we have seen guys from Hartford come up and fill in admirable. Last night was a perfect time to give Strudwick a rest a bring up somebody from Hartford, possibly Hossa. Bad Job Tom!
I actually thought of pulling Lundqvist after the 4 th goal, if not just to slow down Montreal for a minute since we had no timeout. However, if that is done a Valiquette gets burned for 2 quick ones, we would be killing Renney for the move.
Finally, What a disgrace the Montreal fans are. Littering the ice with the fan give away gift and garbage because of what was a good call by the refs is a joke. While continuing to boo and cry every time a player was touched. Disgusting!
