Rangers vs. Devils Preview

Tonight the New York Rangers (25-22-6) visit the New Jersey Devils (28-19-3) in the third game of their four game road trip. New Jersey has failed to win in nine games this season against its two biggest rivals - the Rangers and New York Islanders. Despite that 0-6-3 record, New Jersey, which is 0-2-2 against the Rangers, is only two points behind Atlantic Division-leading Philadelphia. Henrik Lundqvist has been in net for all four Rangers' wins this season against New Jersey, allowing only three goals while recording two shutouts and a 0.78 goals-against average. Lundqvist is 9-2-3 with a 1.46 GAA in 14 career starts versus the Devils. This will be the second game for Rangers center Scott Gomez back in New Jersey, where he spent his first seven seasons. He has a team-high four points in three games against his former team. The Devils have lost four of six overall with each defeat coming at home. The Devils have scored only seven goals in those losses. Zach Parise and Brian Gionta -- New Jersey's leading scorers -- have combined for no goals and one assist this season against the Rangers. ...last night's win means absolutely nothing if they don't put forth another outstanding effort tonight. While I always want a win, I can live with a loss if I feel they've played as hard as they can.

...after reading Lundqvist's stats against New Jersey this year (4-0 with a 0.78 GAA) there is no way Valiquette gets a second straight start.

...looking for Gomez to have a strong game in front of his former fans.

...I'll have lineup updates when they become available.
