Columbus D-Man Hainsey May Be Available

At the Ottawa Sun, the Rangers are mentioned as a team who could be interested in Columbus Blue Jackets 26 year old puck moving defenseman Ron Hainsey if Columbus decides they want to trade him...

"Columbus D Ron Hainsey is a hot commodity. While the Blue Jackets would like to re-sign Hainsey, he is set to become an unrestricted free agent in the summer and could be lost for nothing. Columbus GM Scott Howson also has to decide whether he wants to make a push for the playoffs, or be a seller. The Sharks, Stars, Canucks, Senators and Rangers are all looking for blue-line help."

...I know we've already tried once with Columbus but this guy, who I really know nothing about, looks like a solid offensive d-man. And at only 26 he is just coming into his prime. So far this year he has 7 goals and 21 assists with a +2 in 58 games. All seven of his goals are on the power play as well as 13 of his assists. Although the power play was great last night, we could still use some help.

...if Columbus is still interested in Prucha, I'd wouldn't mind trading him for Hainsey. I saw a few comments at Yahoo! Sports saying the guy is a bit soft, which is a concern.

...while I'm not calling for whole sale changes I think we need either a puck moving d-man for the power play or a physical one to punish opponents to sure up the defense.
