Rangers Shouldn't Move Jagr

Sam Borden at the Journal News feels that the Rangers shouldn't move Jaromir Jagr...

"Acting now does nothing except weaken the team. Should the Rangers trade Jagr, there is little chance they would get anything close to fair talent value in return, and receiving draft picks is far too speculative. The Rangers already have a solid core of young players, and, perpetual fan paranoia aside, they simply aren't in need of the nebulous "rebuilding."

Dumping a player for draft picks is also something that noncontending teams do. And after beating the Sharks 3-1 yesterday for their second straight win, the Rangers are a playoff team, in sixth place in the Eastern Conference. They could very easily still win the Atlantic Division, and Jagr is the kind of player who has shown he scores goals in bunches - precisely what a team needs in the postseason."

...I have to agree with Borden that there is no way the Rangers would get equal value in return for Jagr. And why would we look to trade him now that the team is in sixth place in the Eastern Conference with the Atlantic Division title within their sights.

...Sather put this team together in the off-season to win now. He might as well hold on to everyone and see where they take us.
