Shark Hunters

Today the New York Rangers (30-24-7) defeated the San Jose Sharks (31-19-8) by a score of 3-1. Ryan Callahan scored twice and Chris Drury added a power-play goal and an assist Sunday for the Rangers, who finally beat a Western Conference team. Henrik Lundqvist made 29 saves for the Rangers, who beat a Western team in their last chance after going 0-7-2 in the first nine. Jonathan Cheechoo had the lone goal for the Sharks, who have the fewest road losses in the NHL (17-6-3). For a full recap go to Yahoo! Sports.

...with the weekend sweep the Rangers are now 8-3-1 in their last 12 games. These guys are definitely starting a late season run similar to last year. Should be a fun ride.

...I've also got to give Sather a lot of credit, because for the last month fans, myself included, have been calling for a trade, but he stuck with the guys he had and its paying off. Now that's not to say Sather isn't going to make a trade before the deadline, but the need for one is diminishing with every win.

...now to the game. Over the last few weeks Drury has become the clutch player we envisioned. Including today's game winner on the power play in the second period, he now has seven goals and four assists in the last nine games.

...did I say Callahan had two goals in the last six games? I meant four goals in the last seven. When Prucha is ready to return from his shoulder injury, Renney's decision will be between Prucha and Dawes for the last spot unless he wants to move one of them to the fourth line. Callahan has been too good to be sitting in the press box.

...I thought Orr played a really good game today. For a guy whose not know to be strong skater, I felt he skated very well.

...Jagr is now scoreless in 11 games. Yikes.

...one day off and back at it against a strong Montreal team looking for revenge after blowing a three goal lead to the Rangers in their last game together.
