"...As for the persistent group of you who demand that I get on board with dumping Jaromir Jagr at the trade deadline, don’t hold your breath.
Unless you have a plan to somehow replace him with another guy that opposing coaches will focus their entire game plans upon, I don’t see how it makes any sense.
There is a big difference between frustration with his inability to hit the back of the net and the cut off your nose to spite your face strategy of cutting him loose. Not for nothing, but how do you think Brendan Shanahan would do if he had Zdeno Chara or Hal Gill or Mike Komisarek pounding on him shift after shift? How would any other Rangers winger other than Jagr deal with such constant attention? My guess is: Not very well."
...I understand what Dellapina is saying, but I'm sure Renney focused his entire game plan on stopping Gaborik a month ago in Minnesota and we all know how that ended up. The great player figures out how to fight through the opposing team's game plan and right now Jagr's not doing that.
...and if the Rangers are able to get some nice young NHL ready prospects for Jagr, I don't necessarily think the Rangers are cutting off their nose to spite their face. Its better then keeping Jagr, losing in the first round of the playoffs to Ottawa and having nothing after failing to re-signing him this summer.
