Officially Excited

Yesterday the New York Rangers (27-22-6) defeated the Montreal Canadiens (28-16-9) by a score of 5-3. Chris Drury had the go-ahead goal midway through the third period, and the Rangers scored five unanswered goals. Martin Straka capped the five-goal rally at 18:30 of the third with the Rangers' second goal of the period. After Montreal rookie Sergei Kostitsyn beat Henrik Lundqvist (25 saves) on a penalty shot 5:40 into the second to put the Canadiens up by three, New York scored three times to close out the period. Michal Rozsival and Brandon Dubinsky scored 24 seconds apart to draw the Rangers to 3-2. Scott Gomez scored at 15:40 to tie it at 3. For a full recap go to Yahoo! Sports.

...I've got to be honest and say that I really didn't see much of this game. Too preoccupied with Super Bowl hoopla. But this is definitely a season defining win for the Blueshirts. To be able to comeback from 3-0 down to defeat this very talented Canadiens team is a great accomplishments.

...the Rangers won three of four on this very important road trip and now sit in the seventh spot in the Eastern Conference, only one point out of sixth. They have also won five of six.

...I guess the beginning of the season doesn't have enough pressure for Drury. Because with the pressure of the season hanging in the balance, Drury has now taken over offensively. He has six points (4 goals and 2 assists) and is a +6 in the last three games.

...speaking of taking over offensively, Dubinski is on fire. This kid has future Ranger captain written all over him. Besides his offense, he plays such a tough gritty game.

...the Rangers need to keep up this intensity, especially with the classic let down game against the lowely Kings tomorrow night.

Only saw part of the game because I was at this crazy Super Bowl party. BY the way who the game? Anyway, big win for the Rangers. I'm starting to get excited. I'm curious to see how they play against LA. First game back from the road trip, playing a team towards the bottom of the standings, sounds like a let down game.

We'll see if this team's really turned the page.
