Tyutin Signs 4 Year Deal

At the Blueshirts Blog, John Dellapina reports that the Rangers re-signed Fedor Tyutin for 4 years, $11.4 million...

"The 24-year-old blueliner inked a four-year, $11.4-million pact that will run through the 2011-12 season.

That leaves wingers Jaromir Jagr, Brendan Shanahan, Martin Straka and Sean Avery and defensemen Michal Rozsival, Paul Mara and Marek Malik without contracts for next season."

...of the seven players whose contracts will expire at the end of the year the only two I would like to see back are Avery and Rozsival. I know Rozsival is reluctant to shoot and hasn't had the best season defensively, but I think without Jagr on the team he will look to shoot more and I can see him with over 20 goals next year.

...with all of the these signings I hope Avery is next. Not sure why Sather plays hardball with Avery, but it would be a travesty if Sather lets Avery go to another team in the off-season.

That deal was a lot bigger than i expected. He's making almost 3 million per season. Not sure if he's worth that. 3 years from now it might seem like a steal but, right now i think we over paid for him.

Actually after looking at the how the contract breaks down, I think the Tyutin deal is more than fair. He'll be making $2.25 million next year, which seems about right.
