From Dmitry Chesnokov of Puck Daddy...

Sports Director of #KHL's Atlant said today that Nik Zherdev is considering an offer he received from the NHL.less than a minute ago via Twitter for BlackBerry®

Steve Zipay at Blue Notes has reported the Rangers have said they are not interested in bringing the enigmatic, Russian back.

...Zherdev is usually a springboard for some good debate. So what would you guys think if the Rangers did in fact send him an offer?

At the right price (3.5 mill or less) i'd absolutely take him back to produce around 55-65 points, maybe more if he clicks with Gabby or something. Great value for the production, but the price has to stay that low due to his defensive/"compete" issues.

I always liked Zherdev, bring him back! Just don't pull an Ales Kotalik and give him an overpaying 3 year deal with a no movement clause...

Max 2 Yrs at $3MM per. Anything more, stay away.

I wish they didn't get rid of him last summer, but I agree that you can't overpay him if they do want to bring him back. For the right price, I'd bring him back. I'm not really sure how much money they can really spend, though.

My only concern with bringing Zherdev back, at any price, is how quickly he gets into Torts dog house and spends half the year in the press box.

Bring him back...and I hate thinking about Torts' "chateau bowow" and the amount of times he juggled lines last season. At any rate it'd be fun to watch him play.

I'd be open to it... for the right price. I would say no more than 2.5mill

But, if we brought him back... who gets bumped?

Bring Nicky Z back!!! Love that kid, but agree with the concerns about Torts.

I'd be cool with that. We don't have enough secondary scoring as is, and he has the potential to be a 25-30 goal guy.

As we watched him last year, there were times that my brother or my son would comment that he looked a lot like a young Kovalev, but the effortn wasn't consistant. Maybe with a year of extra maturity he might start to reach his high upside potential so sure, for the right price, give him another shot.

I knew Zherdev would bring great conversation. Nice job,

By all accounts, Zherdev has grown a lot in his season in the KHL, and he is prepared to work hard this year. At the right price, bring back Zherdev. He makes an interesting second liner who can take some of the load off of Gaborik and provide 25-30 goals and 65-70 points. You can't go wrong with that for around 3 mil.

Zherdev was an inconsistent player with tremendous potential. $2M max is all he is worth on a one year contract. His slapshot was a bullet and worth a second chance...
