Rangers Give Newbury Contract Extension

Newyorkrangers.com reports that the Rangers have agreed to terms with forward Kris Newbury on a contract extension.

Newbury, 28, skated in 18 games with the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League (AHL) this season, registering four goals and 14 assists for 18 points, along with 61 penalty minutes. He tied for the Wolf Pack lead in scoring with 18 points in 18 games after joining the team on March 6 at Hamilton, following his trade to the Rangers from Detroit, in exchange for Jordan Owens, on March 3.

...we all sort of laughed at the Rangers trade deadline moves acquiring Newbury and Eriksson. But Eriksson played a big role at the end of the season when he replaced Gilroy in the lineup so who knows maybe Newbury can help the Blueshirts out next season.

Its one thing to expect decent results form Eriksson who has over 570 games to his resume but to suggest that a 28 yr old with less than 50 games to his credit and brings a jack of all trades and master of none as his moniker. I don't expect anything but a fill in in case of injury.
