Top Defensemen & Goalies in the Draft

Newyorkrangers.com continues it's look at the top players in next week's draft by reviewing the top defensemen and goaltenders.

...got to tell you, I'll be pretty pissed if the Rangers take a defenseman or goalie with their first pick. The Rangers have no choice but to go after a forward.

a goalie would be a brutal choice...defensemen...meh...but im with you our number one need is a foward in the draft.

Sather & Clark should be fired on the spot of they draft anyone other than a forward.

although the obvious need is a forward, i think Mcilrath is an intriguing pick because he could be a future wall in front of hank, and hes likely going to be there at 10. No way we pick a goalie

i would love it if they picked forbort or merril. this team is big time lacking in size at all positions and i worry we'll take another 5'11" overhyped forward

i agree i would be perfectly happy with forbert, we need to toughen up our defense with a big physcial stay at home d-man

A physical defenseman would be nice, but a big, physical forward is what this team needs (Nino?).

Joe, are you talking about Skinner?

i see 4 possible guys who are not too big. remember even though these guys won't be here for 2-3 yrs we already are a small team.

granlund, skinner, tarasenko although he is a bit more muscular and burmistrov.

bottom line i do trust clark so unless he is forced to go in a certain direction by sather i'll go along with what they do. just all things being equal this team needs size both on forwards and defense. and rather have a dman with staal or better potential than a small forward who lights it up in jrs and doesn't do it in nhl

Totally agree Joe. If the Rangers go foward, they have to go big forward. Could you imagine a Munchkin line of Callahan-Skinner-MZA?

I sincerely hope Nino Niederreiter is available when the Rangers step up at the ten slot... Clark will take him if he's available.

Agree with the thought that a forward is the way to go. Who will be available is anyones guess; however as long as they can bury the puck in the net and they possess character and grit- they have my vote.
