No Qualifying Offer for Christensen Hoping to Sign More Term, Less $ (Update)

Update, 3:23 p.m.:
Steve Zipay at Blue Notes reports the Rangers will be giving Brandon Prust a qualifying offer.

...looking forward to Prust accepting and having him for another season.

Original Post:
From former Ranger and current Sportsnet analyst Nick Kypreos...

Sounds like NYR Lisin/ Christensen won't get qualifying offers. NY still hoping Christensen will re-sign for more term and at less moneyless than a minute ago via Twitter for BlackBerry®

Larry Brooks says this has been the Rangers intention all along.

...hoping the Rangers can get something done with Christensen. His chemistry with Gaborik makes him a very valuable commodity for the Rangers. If he can play a more consistent game than last year the Rangers could maybe get away with not bringing in an overpriced center.

This team is already so thin at center, losing Christensen (who was one of the most effective playmakers on the team) would be crippling. Get a deal done, PLEASE!

Now the Redden \ Drury contracts start to bite!

Great observation Dave. Just look at my previous post on Shelley. I'm sure the Rangers would love to re-sign but money or lack of it is always going to be the issue with the Blueshirts.

i really have a horrible feeling that the players we want to resign won't be resigned. some how i see staal not getting what he wants and walking. christensen hopefully will take advantage of more years.

If Staal walks do the Rangers sign Sheldon Souray?

Kevin DeLury said...

Souray is under contract with the Oilers for the next two years so the Rangers would have to trade for him.

the rangers will not lose staal or anyone of value - and if necessary can park redden in minors to save the cap space.

EC made 750K last year. You can't get much weaker in salary than that. I believe that there is either something in the works or someone might be given a chance to move up into the roster.
