Rangers Talk Loss to Caps

Andrew Gross at Ranger Rants has numerous post game quotes...

Brandon Dubinsky on the game...

“We played the ideal game,” Brandon Dubinsky said. “Obviously, we had a couple of breakdowns that ended up in the back of the net. It’s tough. We’ve still got to generate more (offense). We needed that key goal and we couldn’t find a way to come up with it.”

Ruslan Fedotenko on the disallowed goal...

“The ref said I just made a collision with the goalie,” Fedotenko said. “It happened so fast. I didn’t really think so but I didn’t see a replay. I was trying to cut in front of him but the defenseman was there.”

Derek Boogaard on ending his 235 game goalless streak...

“So I shot,” said Boogaard, whose cell phone is already filling up with messages. “Hopefully I won’t get on a another streak like that.”

Steve Zipay at Blue Notes has more including this from Henirk Lundqvist...

“We did a lot of good things but it comes down to winning,” said Henrik Lundqvist, who was strong in the first when the Capitals fired 14 shots. “We can’t be satisfied even though we managed to keep their top players away from their big chances. They’re good. They don’t need much. And we come up short again here at home.”

Finally, Rick Carpiniello at the Rangers Report has John Tortorella's press conference including this quote on the disallowed goal by Fedotenko:

“I have no opinion.”

ive been trying to side with MDZ for quite some time now, but he has just been God-awful defensively.

a thought about Boyle:

While inconsistent, Boyle has shown some real talent at times this season. The number of goals scored in the same game suggests he often either has it, or doesn't. But, a former first round draft pick, he has some talent and some people believe it. Being 6'7, he will never be an elite speed, but he has some, so why not still try him in an expanded role when the team gets healthy?

With MDZ and considering the position and his age, it's going to take some time.
Boyle is a pleasant surprise and it seems like the light went on this off-season and he has taken this his job seriously. Good thing.
With the D, at times we play good but at times we don't take care of business in front and play soft. When we do push, the other team pushes back and we lose interest.

I almost fell out of my chair when Boogaard took that slapshot from the blueline with a 2-1. My favorite moment of the year thus far!

On another note, Frolov.... WTF? A complete bust - slow and can't find the back of the net even when it's wide open. Don't know why he gets more ice time than Christensen who at least looks like he's going full tilt when he's out there.
