Dubinsky Talks Contract

Steve Zipay at Blue Notes was able to speak with Brandon Dubinsky today at an informal team scrimmage about his contract situation...

“I want to be a Ranger,” said Dubinsky, 23, still an unsigned, restricted free agent. “The Rangers want me here; something’s gonna get done real quick and this will all be an afterthought. I’m in here working hard, getting ready for the season, not worrying about that; everything falls into place eventually, so I’m not losing any sleep over it. Obviously there’s been a lot of speculation and stuff, but I know where we’re at and where we’re gonna be…It might be 12 days away from camp, but 12 days is a long time, you can have a lot of conversations in 12 days, it only takes one.”

...this Dubinsky quote has me feeling a whole lot better.

Zipay also has observations from scrimmage including locker assignments, Higgins scoring and Potter saying players have come into camp leaner than last year because of Tortorella's letter stating they better be in shape here and here.

thank you for the update, i just asked about this a few days ago. im looking forward to a big year from him. he is a skilled two-way player with size and passing, if he can increase his scoring a tad he will be a true first liner

This is a huge relief!

Increase his scoring a tad? I think he needs to do a hell of a lot more than that to be a true line 1st center. Thats why the Rangers dont want to sign because they have no where to put him in the lineup. It would be embarrassing to put him 1st line center.

Embarrassing? Dude can step to most NHL players with physical intimidation, let alone brute strength if he feels inspired. Him and Gabby? ....!

Jack, I really dont know what your trying to say. If you look at the top 10 teams in the league. Their 1st line centers arent brutes they are playmakers and goal scores. Dubi is trying to take on something he is not. He should stop trying to be an enforcer. He is not a punishing hitter. Cali is a lot better of a hitter and therefore puts more fear in his opponents. Its silly when Dubi fights too. Its like Dubi feels his offensive skills are inferior so he relies on trying to be an enforcer. He is tall and goofy and has never thrown a crushing hit. Embarrassing.
