Mike Loftus at the Patriot Ledger has a nice piece on new Ranger Brian Boyle looking for a new start with the Blueshirts after a disappointing 2008-09 season with Los Angeles...
“I’ve got a lot to prove. This is definitely the most important year in my career to date. I want to get over the hump, be an everyday (NHL) guy. To be able to play well in New York is something a lot of people would want to do, so this is a great opportunity.”
...another player looking for a fresh start with the Rangers (see Kolalik and Prospal). Which I think is great for the players and the team. Nothing wrong with having a bunch of hungry players looking to prove people wrong.

I agree, tons of hungry players will make the team gritty. Every forward at least has something to prove. Gaborik has to prove he can be a healthy 40 goal scorer, etc. Apparently Boyle got blown out of LA, so he's happy to get a new shot. One thing i've noticed about the team they are building this year; Tortorella is putting players together based on their raw skills and what he sees, not on superficial things like their stats from last year. Curious
