Former Ranger Moore Still Available

Steve Simmons at the Toronto Sun (at the bottom) reminds us that former Rangers center Dominic Moore is still a free agent...

"Dominic Moore turns 29 tomorrow and still is a handy man looking for a contract. Word around is he will end up re-signing in Buffalo."

...Moore has turned himself into a nice little center and I loved the fourth line with him, Ortmeyer and Hollweg back in 2006. Not sure how much he would cost, but I'd feel more (no pun intended) comfortable with him as our fourth line center than Brian Boyle who is currently on track to secure that position.

...what do you guys think?

I'm with you, although i have to say that since boyle cost the rangers a 3rd round pick and moore might not be looking for a 4th line center gig, i doubt it happens

i actually like boyle a lot. He's a former first rounder, a HUGE center which we are definitely lacking, great in the faceoff circle, and can even provide some offense. If Anisimov doesn't work out I'd be completely comfortable with having him center our 3rd line.

He has better options than a 3rd or 4th line center for us. You think Moore would even skate in the training camp if Bertuzzi was there?

Chris, that would be awkward. And you guys are right, I think Moore would be looking for more than a 4th line center position.

Really needs to re-sign Betts ... if that's a no-go, then an established NHLer like Moore would be great on the PK ...
Boyle will eventually be a player, but maybe not right now.

I'd rather see Boyle be the 4th line center. He's a gigantic body and has decent hands which makes a nice combo. Plus Moore will want more money than the rangers will be willing to offer and a 2nd line spot. Plus the guys at THN actually have Boyle pegged to score 35 points this year, that's spectacular for a 4th liner and will actually make him a contributor rather than just a roster player.

Not sure I really remember this guy. I know the name but can't put a playing style to him...just looked him up. His stats at Yahoo! NHL say he's 6' 188 lbs...

ah i miss ortie and moore. i'd say bring him back just b/c of memories of that line from the past..

imagine betts-ortie-moore... mmmm

If Boyle plays on the 4th line he's not going to have the support to score 35 points with Brashear and ..?... as his wingers.

Betts was one of the most underrated players in the league. He will really be missed on the PK. We need to drastically improve the PP and generate more goals because I don't see our PK being as stellar as it has been the last few seasons without Betts. Where did he sign anyway?

Betts hasn't signed anywhere yet.

Why do people think Betts is so great? I would cringe when Renney was coaching and he would send Betts on the ice in the end of the third period down a goal. It was laughable, the guy has no playmaking or scoring abilitly. Lets see his total points in last 3seasons are 13-7-10. Thats terrible, all he did good was kill penalty. Big deal, I would take Boyle or Moore over Betts. Maybe under Torts he would be better because Torts wont play him like Renney did.
