Shane you better hope the pro Lundqvist crowd doesn't read that. There was a pretty heated debate in here on that. Check it out: http://nyrangersblog.blogspot.com/2009/08/lunqvist-filling-richters-shoes.html.
I dont agree at all!!!! I think the turning point was in Game 3 when Bure was ejected and given a 5min major for high sticking jay wells....
The series is tied 1-1....the score is 1-1 and Bure had the only goal for the Canucks!!! The Rangers were being out shot 7-1 in the 1st period when the major was called......less than a minute later, Glenn Anderson scored to give the Rangers a 2-1 lead and the route was on. The final score was 5-1. and a 2-1 series lead for the Rangers!!!!
Should Bure have scored on the penalty shot, the Rangers would have been down 3-1...in a game they won 4-2...and lets say they lose the series would have been even at 2 going back to the GArden!!!
However, in Game 3 the Canucks were dominating the 1st periord, Bure gets ejected, the Rangers take the lead in that game on that PP, and the Canucks have no real offensive threat the rest of the game with Bure gone....The Rangers with the game 5-1 and take a 2-1 series lead....therefore is the turning point of the series!!!!

DEFINITELY the turning point of the series.
Not sure if fleisch14 would agree with us.
No cup without Richter, he is the man.
Greatest Ranger goalie of all time.

In my opinion Kevin, it's not even debatable until Lunqvist wins us a cup. But i will check that out thanks
I was 8 years old. I am now 25. I think it is time for the Rangers to atleast sniff the finals again.
agree with shane on richter without him we'd be hearing 1940 still and i would prob have given up on the sport by now
I was 5 when this occurred. Remember every second of that game sitting in my basebment with my dad. Still fist pump to this day every time I see it.
