Trade Deadline Tracker

Ok boys & girls, similar to last year I'm going to have one huge post with all of the days trades with the most recent at the top. And here we go...

5:00 p.m. - Going to give my fingers and eyes a break. I'll have more later. Including a record breaking day at The New York Rangers Blog.

4:54 p.m. - Rangers acquire D Anders Eriksson, 35, ex-Wing, from Phoenix for goaltender Miika Wiikman and a seventh in 2011. He will be assigned to Hartford.(Zipay)

...well at least Hartford gained some depth today.

4:32 p.m. - Phoenix sends Chad Kolarik to Columbus for Alex Picard. (Bob McKenzie)

4:10 p.m. - Hurricanes trade Stephane Yelle and Harrison Reed to Colorado for C Cedric Lalonde-McNicoll and a sixth-round pick. (Bob McKenzie)

4:02 p.m. - Oilers trade Steve Staios to Flames for Aaron Johnson and a third-round pick. (Sportsnet)

3:55 p.m. - Hold on folks, Zipay says Rangers do have a 2nd minor league deal coming, but didn't surrender core youngsters or top prospects for a middling rental.

3:52 p.m. - Ok everyone I think that's it. Still amazed Sather didn't pull something off. But we have to remember the Rangers did pickup Jokinen, Prust & Shelley before the break & Auld during. All of who addressed needs. Hope everyone enjoyed the trade tracker. I know I did.

3:51 p.m. - Not sure about this minor deal Staple was mentioning.

3:38 p.m. - Flames trade Dustin Boyd to Predators for a fourth-round pick. (Sportsnet)

...yawn.

3:36 p.m. - Penguins acquire 2010 6th round pick from Maple Leafs for Chris Peluso. (Penguins Website)

3:34 p.m. - Oilers trade Lubomir Visnovsky to Anaheim for Ryan Whitney. (The Fourth Period)

...so much for the deal with Edmonton.

3:32 p.m. - Minor Ranger move coming. (Arthur Staple - Newsday)

...would trading Redden somehow be considered a minor move?

3:30 p.m. - Hang on Ranger fans. Oilers have a deal in, but no info. Rangers apparently been talking to Edmonton all day.

3:25 p.m. - Blue Jackets trade Mathieu Roy to Panthers. (The Fourth Period)

3:20 p.m. - Rangers are done with no NHL trades. (Larry Brooks)

...this isn't your father's Glen Sather.

3:17 p.m. - Leafs trade back-up G Joey MacDonald to Anaheim for a late round pick. (Bob McKenzie)

3:15 p.m. - Looks like Rangers are done. (Gross)

...i'm shocked. Hey sometimes the best moves are the ones you don't make.

3:14 p.m. - Kings acquire Frederik Modin from Columbus for future considerations. (TSN)

3:12 p.m. - Canucks acquire Andrew Alberts from Hurricanes. (Sportsnet)

3:11 p.m. - Carolinia trades Joe Corvo to Caps for Brian Pother and Oskar Osala. (Bob McKenzie)

3:07 p.m. - Toronto trades Lee Stepniak to Coyotes for draft picks. (Darren Dreger)

...man Maloney was busy today.

3:03 p.m. - 12 trades announced after 3pm last year.

3:00 p.m. - Trade deadline over.

2:59 p.m. - Hopefully there will be some deals finalized after 3 p.m. Because this trade deadline sux.

2:57 p.m. - Dan Hamhuis is not being traded by Preds. (Bob McKenzie)

2:56 p.m. - Blue Jackets trade defenceman Milan Jurcina to Capitals. (Sportsnet)

2:50 p.m. - Souray has a hand infection from the surgery he underwent and is done for the season. (Sportsnet)

...more good news for Rangers fans.

2:45 p.m. - Toronto not trading Kaberle. (USA Today)

...good. That is someone I was afraid Sather would overpay for.

2:36 p.m. - Sabres trade Clarke MacArthur to Thrashers for draft picks. (Sportsnet)

...c'mon where are the blockbusters?

2:23 p.m. - Ray Whitney most likely staying in Carolina. (Bruce Garrioch)

2:22 p.m. - Columbus trades Raffi Torres to Buffalo for Nathan Paetsch and a second rounder. (Bob McKenzie)

...lots of rumors had Torres linked to the Rangers. Not sure where they go now.

2:19 p.m. - Roloson and Biron to stay on the Island. (Katie Strang)

...this was expected after DiPietro was shutdown.

2:14 p.m. - Gross expects Rangers to make a move. (Twitter)

2:09 p.m. - An hour to go. Should really start to pick-up soon.

2:05 p.m. - Flames trade back-up G Curtis McElhinney to Ducks for back-up G Vesa Toskala. (Sportsnet)

1:59 p.m. - Newbury to Rangers official. (newyorkrangers.com)

...yay!!!!

1:52 p.m. - Minnesota sends Eric Belanger to Capitals for 2nd round pick. (TSN)

1:34 p.m. - Tampa sends Jeff Halpern to Kings. (TSN)

...starting to pick-up.

1:32 p.m. - Canucks send Mathieu Schneider to Coyotes. (TSN)

...another former Ranger on the move.

1:27 p.m. - Gaborik walking gingerly through Rangers locker room to team meeting. (Ranger Rants)

...i'm sad to say, but we might not see Gaborik back on the ice for a few weeks.

1:05 p.m. - Del Zotto back in the line-up tomorrow. Potter back to Hartford. (Gross)

12:55 p.m. - The Rangers obtain Kris Newbury from Detroit for F Jordan Owens. (Darren Dreger)

...the Rangers are Cup bound after this one. Swap of AHLers. Owens had 6g, 13a with Hartford.

...at least Newbury can fight. Oh wait, no he can't...

12:45 p.m. - Coyotes send Peter Mueller and Kevin Porter to Avalanche for Wojtek Wolski. (Denver Post)

...guess the Rangers are out.

12:37 p.m. - Canucks acquire Yan Stastny from Blues. (Sportsnet)

12:34 p.m. - Looks like Tomas Vokoun not going to Flyers. (Florida Sun Sentinel)

12:29 p.m. - Gaborik not on the ice at this morning's practice. (Gross)

...maybe he's being traded to Edmonton for Souray. I kid Ranger fans, I kid.

12:27 p.m. - Capitals aquire F Scott Walker from Hurricanes. (Sportsnet)

12:25 p.m. - Rangers have called Phoenix about Peter Mueller. (Elliotte Friedman)

...back in December the Coyotes rejected a Rangers trade offer for Mueller that would have sent Sanguinetti to the desert.

12:22 p.m. - Both Voros and Lisin on the ice with Rangers this morning after clearing waivers. (Gross & Zipay)

12:10 p.m. - Only one player claimed off waivers from yesterday (Ryan Jones to Edmonton), meaning Aaron Voros and Enver Lisin both clear. (Bob McKenzie)

...with the way Lisin played last night, I'm glad he wasn't claimed. Hopefully, if he stays with the big club he'll keep that effort going.

12:00 noon - Rangers have interest in Oilers' Andrew Cogliano, but Edmonton wants to get rid of bad contract with him. (Newsday's Arthur Staple)

...how about Rangers trade their bad contract Redden for Oilers bad contract Souray?

11:53 a.m. - Rangers talking with Florida, Edmonton and perhaps Colorado and Tampa. (Blue Notes)

11:48 a.m. - Former Ranger Aaron Ward traded to Anaheim for Justin Pogge and a draft pick. (TSN)

...former Rangers being traded left and right.

11:37 a.m. - Bruins acquire Seidenberg and Bartowski from Panthers for Craig Weller, Byron Bitz and a 2nd round pick. (TSN)

...Rangers were in on talks with Seidenberg this summer.

11:26 a.m. - Former Ranger & Sportsnet analyst Nick Kipreos says the Rangers one of multiple teams interested in Raffi Torres. (Twitter)

...good to see Kipreos is doing well. I'm sure he's still basking in the glory of being able to play in Game 7 against Canucks back in 1994 b/c of Kocur injury.

11:10 a.m. - Look for Rangers to take hard look at Vancouver's Demitra. (NHL.com writer Andy Strickland)

...Demitra is in the final year of his contract that pays him $4 million this season. This sounds like a quick fix move that Sather is fond of. If this does go down I hope Sather doesn't give up much, if anything. Demitra really helped his trade value with a strong Olympics and playing with Gaborik in Minnesota doesn't hurt.

11:00 a.m. - Devils obtain D Martin Skoula from Maple Leafs. (Bob McKenzie & TSN)

10:44 p.m. - Boston gets 4th round pick in 2011 from Phoenix for Morris. (TSN)

...man the Rangers traded Prucha, Dawes & Kalinen for this guy last year, now he's only worth a 4th round pick. We got hosed.

10:27 a.m. - All is quiet with the Rangers right now. (ESPN)

...10 minutes ago they were talking to Edmonton. Got to love all the rumors on trade deadline day!!!!

10:25 a.m. - Former Ranger Derek Morris headed back to Coyotes. (Bruce Garrioch of Ottawa Sun)

10:18 a.m. - Rangers & Oilers Talking. Not about Souray. (The Fourth Period)

...throughout the year I've seen rumors of a Dustin Penner for Dubinsky trade. Hope that doesn't happen.

10:08 a.m. - Torres will cost a first round pick. (Bob McKenzie)

...no thanks.

10:02 a.m. - Rangers interested in Raffi Torres (Columbus - 19g, 12a) & Dan Hamhuis (Preds - 4g. 13a). Hamhuis could cost Gilroy. (New York Post)

...Hamhuis ($2 million) & Torres ($2.25 million) are both in the final year of their contracts. No need to lose Gilroy for what could be a rental. Torres could be a good fit if the price is right.

9:59 a.m. - Islanders forward Sean Bergenheim (5g, 8a in 46gms) on the market. (Bob McKenzie)

...no Islanders. Thank you.

9:55 a.m. - Rangers have not inquired about Souray or Demitra. (Larry Brooks)

...good we don't want either of them. Especially if they cost a prospect or pick. Although, Demitra did look pretty good during the Olympics.

9:50 a.m. - Best Deadline Day deals over the past 30 years - (NHL.com)

9:40 a.m. - Rangers interested in Florida's David Booth - (Bergen Record)

...there is expected to be a fire sale in Florida today so I expect Booth, who has missed most of the year with an injury, to be moved. However his salary ($4.25 a year until 2015) will make it very difficult for the Rangers to fit him under the cap unless Florida would be willing to take one of the big three (Drury, Rozsival or Redden) along with I'm assuming someone like Dubinsky. FYI Booth had a goal and an assist last night.

9:35 a.m. - Also from last night - Chelios signs on with Thrashers & Blackhawks add D Boynton from Ducks (TSN)

...earlier in the year Chelios rejected an offer to play in Hartford. However he did say he was interested in playing for the Rangers. I said it at the time and still believe that Chelious would have been a great pick-up as a seventh defenseman for the Rangers.

9:30 a.m. - From last night - Canadiens trade D'Agostini to Blues for Palushaj; Senators acquire defenceman Sutton from Islanders; Penguins obtain Ponikarovsky from Leafs. (TSN)

Newbury definitely got nailed there.

I think it's very inaccurate to say that he can't fight though.

Just look at his fight card. At AHL level he has WAY more decisive wins than losses

Kevin DeLury said...

Either way. he has no future with the Rangers.

You're right, he's clearly destined for AHL

Holy updates batman. Sweet.

I agree with all the comments above... he's a goer, but not what we need. Excellent trade deadline cover, kudos.

"3:03 p.m. - 12 trades announced after 3pm last year."

Keepin' us hangin'...nice!

thefourthperiod.com has been reporting that the Rangers and Oilers have been on the phone all day, and not about Souray. I'd love see a few of those guys on our roster... Cogliano, Moreau... etc. With Slats at the helm, however, i'd expect we'll see Dubinsky and Callahan on the move for Jason Strudwick shortly... hey he played D and forward for us, he's as good as two player! ...right?

Unknown said...

Wow, Nothing at all? I'm surprised.

Unknown said...

So it looks like edmonton got a deal through just before the deadline... i wonder if we're on the other end of it...

Unknown said...

It's kinda cool seeing management take care of business for the Wolfpack...hey, it starts from down there.

Unknown said...

(4:12pm) Panthers asking price for Vokoun was "significantly high" and that scared a couple clubs. Panthers had offers for others, too... Rangers and Oilers were discussing a large deal surrounding Tom Gilbert. Looks like it fell through.

thefourthperiod.com again... im kinda glad it fell through. Dubinksy wouldve played his last game as a Ranger.

Thanks for that update j.
