On why he is sitting Avery, John Tortorella explained...
“We’ve asked him for a while now for more engagement,” Tortorella said. “And honestly we just haven’t seen it.”
...i don't like this move at all. Instead if sitting him, how about getting in his face and challenging him to step it up. I think Avery is one of the few guys on the team that would respond to a tongue-lashing.
...and wasn't Torts the guy who was telling Avery to tone it down during the off-season. Talk about sending mixed messages.
Tonight's lines:
Prospal-Jokinen-Gaborik
Dubinsky-Anisimov-Callahan
Prust-Christensen-Drury
Shelley-Boyle-Lisin
...still no Dubinsky-Christensen-Gaborik.

Bad move, Avery has more heart than 90% of the team.
I think he's trying to prepare Avery for Philly. Any support for this theory?
William, there's only 15 games left in the season, so I'm thinking Torts is looking at one game at a time and the Flyers aren't even on his radar yet.
Wow. I'm off the Torts bandwagon.
The "Safe is Death" and "Accountability" platform he stood on is such bullcrap. With 15 games left, Torts is full of crap. Yeah, he "doesn't have much to work with" but scratching Avery will get Torts booed at the Garden. Wow.
This has a 'motivational poster' written all over it...
"Good Coaching... Youre doin' it wrong"
what a jerk
I cant believe the freedom Tortoretard has with this team.
Bench Avery, but let Redden play. hmmmmm.
Since Tortoretard has already banished avery to the 4th line, whats the differnce if he plays or not?
does this imbecile really think tinkering with the 3rd and 4th lines will have any effect on the overall production of this team??
F*&^%^%in Jerk
I think torts lost his mind. One game Avery is on the second line with AA and Oli next game scratched. Him and Cally are the only 2 with heart and Avery will be sorely missed tonight. Should bench Redden, he's been terrible
I was a huge Renney fan and never wanted him fired...
He earned the right to finish up last season...which I am sure would have ended with the Rangers in the playoffs and probably still losing to the Caps...
At which point if you wanted to look for another coach, you would have had the entire off season to find who fits best for the team we had...which in my opinion then and now was and is not Tortorella....
I think Renney is still probably the best coach for this team, but that guy that the Devils brought in this year might have been a good choice to...anyone ever heard of him? I thought so!!
