ESPN: Heatley to Sharks in 3-Team Deal, GMs Deny Trade

ESPN.com is reporting that NHL sources have told ESPN's John Buccigross that Dany Heatley was traded to the San Jose Sharks as part of a three-team deal that will send the Sharks' Patrick Marleau to the Los Angeles Kings and the Kings' Alexander Frolov and Jarret Stoll to the Senators.

Both Sharks GM Doug Wilson and Senators GM Bryan Murray denied the three-way trade when reached by ESPN.com.

...not sure how ESPN can report this when both GMs are denying it, but if true the Senators made off with an upcoming superstar in Frolov and a solid center in Stoll.

...i would have liked to have seen Heatley in a Rangers uniform but to give up Dubinsky, Staal and Rozsival (rumored trade) would have left the Blueshirts with way too many holes in their line-up.

NHL is also reporting this. Sounds like someone within one of these organizations got a little excited and jumped the gun. I hope the deal is true though, because I bet some sort of Heatly deal has been holding up the Dubinsky signing.

Why on Earth would the Kings give up Stoll and Frolov for Marleau? There has to be more to this story...
