"Rumors the last 2-3 weeks have had Kessel going to Toronto or Nashville, most likely in a sign-and-trade deal. Based on another hint Chiarelli dropped last night, there could be a three-way deal in play, possibly with the Bruins engaging the Leafs and Rangers, or the Leafs and Predators.
On what the Rangers would get in exchange for Dubinsky...
"With Burke willing to surrender his pair of first-round picks, he conceivably could flip one of those picks and possibly a prospect to the Rangers for Dubinsky, who last year connected for 13 goals and 41 points for the highly-mediocre Blueshirts. Burke then could turn around and offer Chiarelli the first-rounder and Dubinsky, the 60th pick overall in the 2004 draft, for Kessel."
...so in this scenario the Rangers would lose Dubinsky and not get Kessel in return? Remind me why this would make sense for the Rangers.
Speaking of Dubinsky, if you guys didn't notice in my "Friday Headlines" post, Larry Brooks at the New York Post is reporting the young winger has lowered his asking price...
"While Overhardt would not provide specific information regarding the proposals, it is believed that Dubinsky is now seeking a one-year deal for approximately $1.1 million or a two-year deal for approximately $2.15 million.
General manager Glen Sather, who declined the opportunity to weigh in on his conversation yesterday with Overhardt, is believed holding fast to a one-year offer of $700,000 or a two-year offer of approximately $1.85 million."
...i know the Rangers have leverage over Dubinsky in the negotiations, but it doesn't mean they have to squeeze the guy. Dubinsky's proposal isn't all that outrageous.
...unless of course, Sather is just stringing Dubinsky along until he can maybe make a deal for Kessel. Which is even worse.
