Rangers 4, Red Wings 2

The New York Rangers defeated the Detroit Red Wings 4-2, tonight. For a recap and box score go to newyorkrangers.com.

...after a quick start, the Rangers were dominated by the Red Wings and were lucky to hold on. But a win is a win, even if its preseason.

...if that's a glimpse of what Ranger fans are going to see out of Gaborik this season consider me giddy.

...thought some of the younger players (Anisimov, Del Zotto, Gilroy) had off nights. Including a bad giveaway by Del Zotto on the Red Wings first goal. Not enough to think about any of the three not making the team, but something to keep an eye on as the Rangers start to play teams with more and more NHL players in the line-up.

...i can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm rooting for Voros to make the team. I think he's a perfect fit for the fourth line. Sure he started out strong last year and fell apart, but that was because Renney had him playing on the first line. Voros is a fourth line player and can be very effective there.

...another player who is playing his way onto the team is Lisin. He's always been known for his speed, but has found his scoring touch so far in the preseason.

...with Voros and Lisin stepping up, unfortunately, Grachev may be heading to Hartford. Which may be the best thing for him. He's not a fourth line player and the last thing he needs is sitting up in the rafters as a healthy scratch all season.

...was I the only one waiting for Cloutier to deliver a Salo-like beat down to Voros in the crease? C'mon Danny you're getting soft in your old age

...the way I see the final cuts shaping up is Sanguinetti, Grachev and Parenteau all being sent to Hartford with Voros, Boyle, Brashear and Lisin all shifting in and out of the line-up. Pencil in Semenov as the seventh defenseman.
