Lundqvist a Hart Trophy Favorite

Sam McCaig at The Hockey News lists the top 10 candidates for the Hart Trophy this season, including Henrik Lundqvist at #9...

9. Henrik Lundqvist, NY Rangers
After being nominated for the Vezina Trophy in each of his first three NHL seasons, Lundqvist didn’t garner top-three support last year. But he still collected one first-place vote and he’s recognized around the league as the reason the Rangers remain relevant. Aside from Niklas Backstrom in Minnesota, there might not be a more important player to his team’s fortunes.
Odds: 30-1

...with the way the Rangers rely on Lundqvist game in and game out Lundqvist will always be in the conversation for the Hart.

Technically, the Hart is not just a generic MVP, it's for "the player adjudged most valuable to his team." I can't think of any player who is more important to his team's fortunes than Lundquist is to the Rangers'. He should be higher than 9.

The article, however, is total tripe. In praising Crosby's leadership, McCaig writes, "he like Mark Messier with more talent." I threw up in my mouth a little when I read that. Lil' Diver Cindy wins one Hart and one Cup (with the entire NHL and every ref behind him) and McCaig is ready to annoint him better than 5-time Cup winner, 2-time Hart winner, and second all-time scoring leader Mark Messier, probably the best leader in sports history?!?! I think I speak for all Rangers fans--and legitimate hockey fans everywhere: F**k you, Sam McCaig.

Correction: **Sorry, Mess won 6 Cups (making McCaig's comment even more ridiculous). Typing all this on an iPhone...

James i know what you mean, all of my comments come from the iphone, and theres no way that crosbys leadership is close to Messier. Messier's leadership can never be touched.
