Rozsival, Girardi Take Steps Back; Redden to Bounce Back

Rick Carpiniello at the Rangers Report takes a look at the struggles of both Michal Rozsival and Dan Girardi this preseason, while also noting that Wade Redden should bounce back this year and benefit from John Tortorella and his system.

...its funny how a new system can effect players in different ways. Girardi, a more stay at home defenseman, is struggling mightily, while the more offensive minded Redden could flourish.

...now I'm not saying Redden is going to be rejuvenated this season, but his game did get much better under Tortorella last season and I'm hoping he'll come into this season with a chip on his shoulder as well. Either way he still won't be worth that ridiculous contract.

...as far as Rozsival goes, he has been atrocious this preseason as evidenced by his giveaway on the Capitals first goal yesterday. Yuck.

I've been a Roszival defender for a couple of seasons, but last night might have been the last straw. That giveaway was an abomination. The Rangers' D looked awful last night. Not even competetnt, just awful. I hope it's not a sign of things to come this season...

Rozsival has not been able to keep the puck in the offensive zone for 3 years now and even if he could he never shoots the puck anyway. He's weak in front of our net and nobody's afraid of him in the corners.

What's the point of keeping him? I'd rather see a rookie make mistakes than this guy.

His head is not in the game.

Yes, the give away yesterday was CARELESS. Its only pre-season but i hope this is not what were going to get used to seeing this year. And Chris, i know that you would like to get rid of rozsy and his contract but it is hard, hes been an underachiever and he has a nice big contract. I dont see anyone looking to pick that up.

Roszival did at least have one good season when Jags was here. As for Girardi, why all the criticism from Torts? Leave him alone, he's been fine.
