Rangers Cut Roster to 25

Newyorkrangers.com reports that the Rangers...

"assigned the following five players to Hartford (AHL): goaltenders Chad Johnson and Matt Zaba; defensemen Ilkka Heikkinen and Corey Potter; and forward Paul Crowder."

The Rangers now have 25 players remaining in training camp, including two goaltenders, eight defensemen and 15 forwards.

...should be interesting to see what the Rangers do on defense. If they decide to go with seven defensemen on the roster it's between Del Zotto, Semenov and Sanguinetti for the last two spots. From what I've seen in the preseason that sixth spot has to go to Del Zotto. He has been head and shoulders above the other two. I'd then give the seventh spot to Semenov to have a veteran presence to insert when needed. Unfortunately, that would mean Sanguinetti being sent down to Hartford. But I'd much rather see him playing important minutes for the Pack than sitting up in the rafters for the Rangers.

...as far as forwards, looks like Parenteau bought himself another few games with 1g & 1a today. But I don't think he makes the final cut. The big cut will come down to Grachev and Lisin. And where does the rejuvenated Voros fit in?

For more on the tough decisions at forward check out Steve Zipay's post at Blue Notes.

Remember Voros at the beginning of last season? He led the team in goals for like a month then disappeared off the radar completely.

Am I the only one who would rather have Johnson instead of Valiquette?
