Andrew Gross at Ranger Rants has this quote from Sean Avery after his first practice since injuring his knee...
"It felt good," Avery said. "It's been about a week since I got on the ice (Sept. 21) so that's a good feeling for sure. We'll take tomorrow and see how it goes."
...looks like we'll have to wait until tomorrow to see if Avery's a go for the season opener.
Gross also notes that there is still no word on the Rangers offering Alexei Semenov a one-year deal. NHL rosters are due this afternoon so they are likely will be some waiver candidates the Rangers could be looking at.
Other notes from practice are Marian Gaborik absolutely freezing Henrik Lundqvist before beating him with a wrist shot on a penalty shot called after he was taken down by Michael Del Zotto; and Aaron Voros going down hard along the boards during line drills.
...didn't someone tell Del Zotto about Gaborik's brittle body.
Today's lines...
Vinny Prospal-Brandon Dubinsky-Marian Gaborik
Christopher Higgins-Chris Drury-Ryan Callahan
Enver Lisin-Artem Anisimov-Ales Kotalik
Donald Brashear-Brian Boyle-Aaron Voros
